ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

i'm going to change my oil/filter check a few wires and do a little research..

i messed with it a little more and warmed if up. after i turned the engine off and held the acc. position for a few minutes, for the first 20 seconds the light was off and then it came on, so maybe it's holding pressure when it actually shouldn't be? possible side effects from using too thick of oil along with a possibly clogged filter? lots of variables. what do you guys think of this??

i'm going to do the oil and report back!

do that. change the oil and see if the motor and electronics act differently. im thinking it MIGHT be because of that thick oil you were using. but i may be wrong.

but using 20w-50 is WAY too thick to be using. some may use it but i call them idiots if they do. theres really no point. our motor never were made to run with oil that thick. be sure to let us know what happens

Change your oil.... but if you change it to something thinner and it solves the problem my thinking is you have some sort of clog in one of the oil ports. If you really think the oil is the issue I would put some lucas or mystery oil in to help stabilize the oil and see if that helps. But I am sure that us idiots have healthier longer lived engines... there are a lot more benefits to running thicker oil than thinner... especially in these warmer months.

the oil i just put in was 5w-30, which is recommended on the oil cap by honda. it's just for now, i'd like to see how it runs with the recommended oil and i'd like to see what impact it has on economy/response.

correct me if i'm wrong but after changing the filter and doing a complete drain i need to fill it with 4 quarts? i've waited a little bit for the oil to settle and there isn't much on the dipstick.

when you empty the oil and change the filter always put in at least 4 1/2 quarts. the filter itself can take up to 1/2 a quart to a full quart of oil. start the car. let it run for a few seconds(maybe like 10 or 15) just to get the oil thru the motor. then cut it off. check the dipstick. should be between the 2 holes at the bottom of the dipstick. not above or below. but between

being that you had such thick oil in it, it should run a little smoother and better.

and actually the motor i have now went thru some shnit. i tell you what. lol. got the thing ann it had 4 different spark plugs in it. valve cover hadnt been changed in about 2 years. timing belt is extremely loose. oil is about 6 months old and is 2 quarts over. i don think this motor saw a healthy day in its life. except the day it was brand new. lol

thanks! before i started it it was right on the 2nd hole on the dipstick, perfect! after i ran it it went right in between. right on!

i'm glad i bought an extra quart just in case.

i'm not sure if it's just in my head but i do think it runs a bit smoother! we'll see how it affects my gas mileage after i actually get the suspension done.

as for the oil light, it's on in the acc position and goes off after the car is started, so i assume this must be how it's actually supposed to be and my car was having an issue before all along rather than now!

thanks for all of your input though! you've been really really helpful.

i'm thinking i should seafoam it at some point, but i have toooo many things to fix before i even think about it as even now there are too many variables to the problems it's already got and i don't need any more to factor in.

                but thanks!

this forum is amazing, i'll be on here a lot more trying to resolove the tons issues the car is having.

                i wish i were kidding.
