ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

have you tried tapping the starter and cleaning the connections?

it happened to the project cb7 and has worked ever since.

This isn’t hard to do at all but again, do it at your own risk…if you manage to blow up your car while doing this it is not my fault…so now, on to the DIY

    1. Disconnect the battery (if you don’t know how to do this, stop right now and go back into your cave)

    2. Disconnect the clip (top circle) and remove the bolt the is connected to the battery (bottom circle)

    3. Remove the two bolts that hold the starter to the tranny and the starter should fall right off

    4. Installation is the reverse of removal.

starter is very easy, unplug battery, unplug the wires u see attached to starter (power), remove 2 to 3 bolts on it, and it comes off quickly. Try to get power tools, it will make your life easier.

This is just general stuff, i never really memorized the steps since u just take off what is in ur way.

edit, a nicer guide by web

      Vouch for: Jarhead293, 2.2litrebeater, Darkshadow707, slammed4thgen, Pacman91ex.

start is going bad and gets hung up... you can arc the neg and positive wires with a screwdriver to get it to unhang itself...just more or less buying some time before it gose completely out

ima change the starter later today. but i gota question. i was talking to my cuz again, and he said it might just be the distributor cap. what do you all think. it will turn and then other times not even a crank. it will start on a push start

not the cap, this jsut happened recently on my friend's G20. we got stranded in a parking lot and i crawled under the car with lug nut wrench in hand and banged the starter. it fired right up.

Also check your battery and ground connections. I had an issue where my car wouldn't start. Had enough power for lights and radio, but no power to turn the engine. Push start got me home. Spent $300 on a battery and starter, and the problem persisted.
I gave up. Cracked open my last can of Coke and stared at the car in frustration. Then I remembered the old chain email about how Coke delivery drivers use the stuff to clean their trucks. It's BS, but hell... I cleaned my battery terminals with Coke. Car started right up.

Now, I don't recommend using Coke... but some water with a little baking soda will do the trick fine.
