ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    egr removal HELP!

Fisrt of all, my egr flags on and off, Ive cleaned the lift sensor on top and it is still intermitent with the CEL.

I tried to take it off, first I used PB Blaster and a chisel to loosen it up, one bolt seems accessable, I tried loosening it but ended up stripping it, stubborn piece of work. Any tips for dealing with the stripped 12mm nut??

Hows the best way to access the other nut??

could you just vice grip it off? Or is it beyond that? What you can do is grind either side of it flat so the vice grips can get a better grip, or last resort effort of cutting it off. That's what i would do, but id rather just get it off and go buy a new nut rather than mess with it for hours.

what you need is a flexible end 6" extension. i tried vice grips too but the nuts just were too soft from the heat and weathering.

you guys are great, as for other solution such as the block off plate, how do you deal with the lift sensor on top throwing codes??? Does it involve twisting wires and stuff??

You have to get ecu that doesn't have a egr valve.

or sandwich the block off plate in between the egr and the egr gasket. it wont throw a code.

Yes it can but if it not working now, then it won't be any worse. If in good condition and tune these engines will pass easily with a EGR block-off. And generally run a tinny bit better. And a tinny bit cooler.
Take that freek show to the park, maybe the squirrels will care.

not sure about that, my buddies h22 cb7 had egr disabled and his emissions for NOx was around the 1400's. 700 was to pass.

I had to heat up my EGR bolts with an Oxy torch to get them off.

Of course, the manifold was off the car, lol.

i found that a wobble extension is great along with removing the return line. Oh and dont completly gut the egr. just use some layers of aluminum cans cut with tin snips or somthing. Then just reseal with a sealant. Used copper sealant.

no emissions testing here, thank god. You guys will like how the inspection went:

                              1. Came outside
                              2. Wrote down vin
                              3. Asked what year it was
                              4. Gave me my inspection slip and sent me on my way
