ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Prelude S f22a1 into My CB7 ?

I was taking a look at the differences between the f22 in my accord and the f22 from a prelude s that i bought to put in and noticed that the lude motor has a coil mounted behind the cap to the dist. with a wire to the cap. my accord doesnt have that wire at all. what should i do to make it work? i was planning on using the harness off the motor in my car. will it work like it is or do i need to change something?

your f22 has a internal coil. as where the f22 in the prelude has an external. some people change from the internal coil to the external. the 90-91 i think came with the internal and the 92-93 came with a external. anyone correct me if im wrong it will work no problem

heres a couple diys about it

so the external is better? will my wiring harness need to be modified?

only possible advantage is that you can use MSD ignition on external coil

Electrical circuits are affected by heat. As temperature is raised so is resistance. An external coil will generally be cooler. This will help reliability and performance of the coil.
Take that freek show to the park, maybe the squirrels will care.

i like my external over an internal any day. i've seen a civic go for broke because of an internal coil coupled with the heat from a vortech supercharger being located right beside the dizzy.

Just curious, wouldn't this be kind of a waste, to swap the entire engine just for a little less heat on the coil?

                Maybe I'm just lazy :P

I agree it would be a waste ,but I'm swappin because my current motor is junk, the prelude motor was the lowest mileage f22a1 i could find local. Im not doing this for performance Im doing it for reliability.

If you used the harness off of the prelude engine, you won't have to do any rewiring, and then it won't matter if it has an external coil.

Also, the only way you will really get any more performance out of that motor (not what you are looking for, I know) is if you have the P12 ECU. Mine (I have a prelude S, but now a H22 swap) always felt more snappier than my Accord.

The ECU is the only significant difference between the two motors. That is where the 10hp difference lies.

If you're doing it for reliability, then that's fine. The motor is the same as yours. Just get the ECU for the extra 10hp. Otherwise, it's an identical swap.

Use your internal coil dizzy to make things easier.

For the internal/external distributor... just about everything said above is correct. Unless you have the mods to justify an upgraded ignition system, there's no need to do anything to it. The internal coils don't usually heat up enough to do any damage when all is stock anyway. You can convert to external coil of you want... you don't need to change anything. You just need to add some wires. I believe there is a DIY on this forum somewhere. I'm still internal on my H22, and I never bothered converting. I did burn out one coil so far though... a junkyard replacement works fine.
