ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    EGR Cleaning, need advice

So tomorrow, im going to be removing the EGR to see how bad its gummed up, when im getting 400 km per tank, its really hurtin the wallet. Does anyone have some advice on how to clean this? I know to get it off, its 2 12MM bolts (or 14), and a new gasket is required. But im curious on methods of cleaning it out.

    Thanks muchly

throttle body cleaner works great. although it doesnt get it all off. you might need something a lil abrasive to pull the gunk out of the inside. i know i did. seafoam actually makes a TB cleaner called deepcreep. i think ive seen it at pepboys

brake cleaner is what me and my friend used on his EGR on his ford ranger. his intake manifold and EGR were so bad i'm surprised he was able to drive it as long as he did. it was almost solid.

Brake clean or TB cleaner. Not sure on your car but the gasket may rip when you remove it from the intake manifold.

hook up a vacuum pump to the line and pressurize. it should open and you're all set.

Perfect man, THanks a ton! Im not going to be opening the ports to the manifold, to me thats just riskybuisness since honda is not open today, and i cant get there for a while. So im just going to clean the Valve, and remove what i can from the intake manifold, and let everything go through the motor. im going to try and get a wire brush in there without damaging anything.

I would just stay with the TB cleaner. Brake cleaner is a bit harsh on rubber and it can make your EGR diaphram brittle then crack eventually...
