ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    f22b head vs h23a head

Ok, so I have a f22b2 engine and I want to put an jdm f22b dohc head on it. I've read that the f22b dohc is basically the same as the h23 head, but how similar are they really? Its really hard finding a f22b head by itself so I might just end up buying the whole engine and then parting it out. I'm wondering what parts are interchangeable that i should keep. Would it be better to use the h23 intake mani or exhaust mani or are they the same? Which ecu would be the best choice considering that I have to keep it obd2 for inspection. Would really like to hear from people who have already did the swap or has this knowledge. Thanks.

if your'e going to buy the whole f22b motor to part out just the head, that would be foolish. swap it out for your f22b2. the intake manifolds and exhaust manifolds on the f22b and h23 are the same.

the reason for just keeping the head is because a full engine swap is illegal if its older than the car, forgot to mention i have a 96 cd5. i was told that its legal to do headswaps though.

x2, it's mainly california, washington, oregon, new york, new jeresy. places where they've had people try to pass every swap known to man. in NC, where i'm live, most of them only know the major honda swaps if even that.

Now I don't know a whole lot, but I'm pretty sure if you're worried about inspections you can't do a JDM head swap, as it's the emissions shit they're worried about and as far as I know JDM motors don't have like an EGR and shit like that..
As far as the choice of heads, I wouldn't choose an F series head over an H, but I don't really understand what you're asking..

Well, the f22b dohc well b a simpler procedure and produce basically the same results as an h23 head if bolted on to my f22 block + i assume it'll be a bit more reliable since the f22bx blocks r the same block. I was basically asking what parts i could use and if any parts would produce more power if i took them from an h23. But I've made a thread talkin about the legal issues in NY and i'm having second thoughts.

geez here in texas all u have to do is go forwards, backwards, honk 3 times, no cracked glass(headlights, windshield tail lights) and pass a very very easy emissions test and ur good to go. My 92 integra with 2 1/2" exhaust with no cat, resonator and a shitty muffler passed emissions lol. No visual inspection other then the glass thing. They dont care what motor is in it and nor will they ever.

Actually the F22b head and the H23a head are slightly different. On the jdm F22b head the exhaust valves are bigger than on the H23a head.
