ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Vtec Dilemma!

alright guys, so heres the situation, life is good rite now and money is coming at a steady rate and very soon i should have enough money saved up for an engine upgrade. now i have already made up my mind, that if i am swapping engines its for the h22a, for simple reasons of simplicity and popularity. plus its not bad of an engine. so heres the problem, my cb7 is my only ride and its more than just a daily driver, i really rely on this car. so if i go for the swap obiviously im gonna be getting it done by a pro cuz by all means im fairly new at this, the thing is :
    1. what are the chances of the car not working after the swap
    2. is driving an h22a really more noticably different the f22a6 (i have 92-ex)
    3. or should i just spend money on some mods on the stock instead of the swap?
you guys have some great opinons so ill be look forward to them!

You can build the F22A6 up to match specs of h22. Big cam, bisi exhaust, PNP, h22 intake plenum on your A6 runners, etc.

... idk prob cheaper to do h22... and you'll have to do some work to get the f22a6 to go higher revs (springs, valves, etc.) Probably will be easier to get the h22.

Building the F22A6 to make H22A power would decrease driveability and reliability. Depending on how it's done, maybe not too much... but it will affect it some. The H22A makes 200hp in STOCK form. Meaning you have a BONE STOCK engine under your hood.

Below the VTEC range, it feels much like a healthy F22A. A little more power, but not like a rocket. Where the F22A runs out of breath in stock form, the H22A wakes up and makes MORE power. It's not like going from a Civic to a Corvette... but there's a definite difference. After 5 years, I still love driving mine.

Don't assume that a shop can or will do it better than you. I had a shop do mine. To this day, I'm finding more and more that they did wrong... Crazy mounts (they tapped 3 holes, used two of them, and used the Prelude mount... idiotic, unsafe, and more work than necessary... I only have it bolted down in 2 places instead of 3!) My ECU wiring was frayed and showing copper... not due to wear, but due to careless splicing. My AC has never been hooked up. It took them 2 weeks, with me holding their hand the whole way, to get it done. It's run fine ever since, but it's SUCH a simple swap... I have at least a dozen people on this forum that I consider to be friends that could do it better in under a day! You could do it yourself, even if you've never turned a wrench in your life, in about a week if you follow the instructions on this forum.

H22A swap is DEFINITELY worth it. If you want a fun, somewhat powerful car with stock reliability, the H22 is what you want. Once it's in and running properly, it's like stock. Change the oil regularly and forget about it.

Get your engine from a good place. www.hmotorsonline.com gave me a fantastic engine, and I'll be going back to them if I ever want to order another one. They aren't the cheapest, but you definitely get what you pay for!

thank you man, very imformative. i think u just pushed me over the hump to get this thing done lol i have basically read almost all the important stickies on the forum on swaps and though u guys make it seem so easy to do, i wish i had a fraction of the skills as u guys but until then im gonna have to do whats best and actualy go to somebody who may know what there doing in an engine swap im just gonna have to do some research and find a reliable shop. it just sucks i wish some of u pros lived up in toronto, would have paid big bucks to get it done by u guys lol
