ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

maybe i'll try the 5w20 next time since that's what my mother uses in her CRV... maybe i can convince her to buy a whole case.

I mean i've already have the valve lash worked on already along with timing belt, water pump, new plugs, wires and all that jazz. the only thing that didn't get changed was the fuel filter.

how much does that cost, and should it be done at the dealer or just anywhere?

I've been semi "hypermiling", best so far was 30.4mpg with a 10" sub and amps in the trunk(downgraded from a previous heavy ass system). I changed air filter, aired tires up to max rating. This is an automatic, any other suggestions for MPG? Plugs are decently new, but wires might be old? that effect MPG?

The only shitty thing was 5w20 cost 26.99, 10w30 was only 19.99 why the difference?

          26.99?

uh its the same price as other oil. I use 5w20 in my civic. it's cheap

Esp on the weekly specials at autozone filter+ 5 things of oil for 12.99.

For some reason i cannot drive slow so my gas mileage has not been really good. But i really noticed after getting my ngk iridum sparkplugs i didnt have to get gas as often. But if you want to get better mileage the best thing to do it accelerate slow keep it a low rpm for 5spd and weight reduction. Good luck man these gas prices are killing us all.

Here is a good source for getting better gas millage for you car.

                  http://www.ecomodder.com/

Now as far as oil that will help you get better gas millage you are going in the wrong direction. As things get hotter this summer you want to get higher viscosity oil. Also I would recommend picking up a bottle of Slick50 for older cars. This has an additive that coats the aluminum with a layer of protection to keep wear and tear to a minimum especially at high temps.

Here are some suggestions that will help you get better millage that you can do easily.

Kill all unnecessary electrical loads... Lights... radios... defrosters... unless you absolutely need them...

Kill the AC if you dont need it.. I highly recommend parking in the shade.. driving with the windows down till about 40-50mpg then you are better off using the AC on the freeway. use tint and those metallic shades to deflect all that solar energy out of your cab when you park.

Higher pressure tires... and thinner tires.. You are decreasing your rolling resistance... tires take a certain amount of energy to just travel you usually loose about 5-10 hp just form your tires.

You can do some aerodynamic mods. You can delete your rear view mirrors and use a mirror on the inside of the door to look out. Block off the radiator grill and watch your coolant temperatures. This will help a lot. If you are feeling really ambitious you can add a wheel skirt to at least the rear wheels. you can add an underbelly if you have some resources that will give a nice smooth bottom to the underside of your car. And the ultimate would be to add a boat tail the the rear of your car that kinda makes the car look like a boat or an airplane.

Now all that said our accords are rather aerodynamic already... about the same as a prius actually.

Honestly the automatic is going to just suck up any gains that you would get from changing your oil.

                  Drive SLOW...
