ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Without actually knowing the prices, I'd be surprised if you could get Bilstein cheaper than Koni. The Bilstein aren't externally adjustable like the Koni, but from what I hear / read are the better damper and can be revalved if you need / want. About the only other brand that might be superior to Bilstein are Penske, but very $$$ and fitment for Accords may be problematic(?).

If you're driving on rough roads then I'd suggest you need a damper at least as as good as the Koni, and in easily available dampers that means Koni or Bilstein (and rules out most everything else as they are unlikely to last too long in rougher use). Additional benefits of the Koni and Bilstein is that when they do wear out they can be rebuilt.
    Regards from Oz,
    John.

I don't know if Bilstein offers a lifetime warranty, but Koni does. If you blow one, you send it back to the factory to be rebuilt or replaced.

I haven't researched the price of Bilsteins for our cars either, as they don't seem nearly as common as the Konis in shops.

For most applications, Konis are great. They're comfortable on the "soft" setting, extremely stiff on the "hard" setting, and there's a full range of adjustability in between. The price is decent (seeing as you'll never have to buy another one again... as long as you can afford the downtime to have one rebuilt ) For a street car, the performance is more than adequate. They're great for a hobby car that sees some racing action. The adjustable nature of them makes them very versatile. Soft ride to the track, stiff ride on the track, soft ride home.

Bilsteins are probably best for a purpose-built race car. Any application that's comfortable on the street may be too soft for the track (this, of course, depends on your definition of comfortable). Valving for the track would very likely make the car too uncomfortable, and possibly unsafe, on public roads.

im talkin bilstein hd's, same ones i got put on the mustang i had. i just cant remember how they felt over stock..which bites. adjustability would be great...but i would dick with it too much and prolly break something.lol. but i drove the stang on the same road as i do now to get to my house and i do remember that they took the beating like a champ no matter how fast i was going. but the koni's do interest me because of their adjustability. i do beleive from what ive looked up that the bilstiens do have a lifetime warranty as well. its hard cause so many people on here have konis and swear by em, but at the same time i kinda wanna be different yet "why mess with a good thing" comes to mind.

Bilstein makes excellent shocks. My buddy with a 99 911 Carrera has them.

What Bilstein Damper are we talking about here? the HD?

When I spoke with Bilstein Engineering, they recommended the HD damper only for OEM or very very mild sports springs; max around .5" drop.

Maybe Bilstein can provide us with custom valving for the HD. Then we would have a proper performance system. But on their website, I have only seen the HD system specified for our cars.

i think i had a brainfart there. did you say .5" or .05". if its .5 then H&R OE sports should work ok. just .75 is that over the top eh?
