Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

replacing clutch master cylinder

Shouldn't be too hard...I think it's two bolts and taking off the line. All are 10mm...but don't quote me...cause might be 12mm. Sorry for the definitive answers
You should rebuild it...costs half as much as a rebuilt one from the parts store
Nothing to be scared of...get you a rebuild kit and it will just be a remove and replace as to the internals and remove and replace of the master cyl. itself. You will also need a haynes manual and I believe there is some sorta retainer clip in there also but I might be thinking of the brake master cylinder.
Or you can buy a rebuilt one (that you could do yourself) for double the cost...but that really depends on your comfort level with doing that and your own preference...either way...shouldn't be a big dealio...just have to bleed the clutch system afterwards. How's the slave cylinder?
I will see if I can get the instruction from my Haynes and type 'em in here...maybe take some pics. I need to do this as well on my car.
I would rate this job (from 1-10) as a ...3? maybe a 1-5 scale...as a 1 or 2...it's not hard.
Question...why is it you think you need to replace the clutch master cylinder? It is very common for the clutch slave cylinder to fail...if you are having difficulties with pushing in the clutch that is. Course...you may be like me...my slave failed completly, and the master will soon need replacing also, even though it has not yet failed 100%Last edited by bcjammerx; 04-13-2008, 01:59 PM.____

the first half of the clutch has no pressure and then it gets pressure. and sometimes i need to pump the clutch to gain pressure... also to turn on the car sometimes i need to pump the clutch a little .. seems to me like the master cylinder has a leak in it
alone in this game . ::My Ride My Way::

ok.... pour the fluid in... u dont have to close the lid. once u do that. u open the slave cylinder. not to much, just enough so the fluid comes out. have someone pump three times, it well start spittin out the fluid. on the third pump hold it down. n then u close the bleed hole, (slave cylinder) then, let go the clutch and then pump it ten times!!! u open the bleed hole. pump it 3 times again. n just do it over until its hard. and keep an eye on the fluid. add more. sorry for the bad english
