ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Check Engine Light Paper Clip Trick... help!

hey everyone, i just tried the paper clip trick on my car and i got a weird reading. it appears that their is 4 solid blinks, then followed by 1 quick blink then like a 3 second pause followed by 9 quick blinks. what code could that be?

"long blink" "long blink" "long blink" "long blink"
    "short blink"
    ***3 second pause***
    "short blink"x9

    1 O2A - Oxygen sensor #1
    2 O2B - Oxygen sensor #2
3 MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor
4 CKP - crank position sensor
5 MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor
6 ECT - water temperature sensor
7 TPS - throttle position sensor
8 TDC - top dead centre sensor
    9 CYP - cylinder sensor
10 IAT - intake air temperature sensor
12 EGR - exhaust gas recirculation lift valve
13 BARO - atmospheric pressure sensor

    20 Electrical load detector
    21 VTEC spool solenoid valve
    22 VTEC pressure valve
    23 Knock sensor
    30 Automatic transmission A signal
    31 Automatic transmission B signal
36 traction control found on JDM ecu's
    41 Primary oxygen sensor heater
    43 Fuel supply system
45 Fuel system too rich or lean
48 LAF - lean air fuel sensor
54 CKF - crank fluctuation sensor
    58 TDC sensor #2
    61 Primary oxygen sensor
    63 Secondary oxygen sensor

80 Exhaust Gas Recirculation insufficient flow detected
86 ECT Sensor (Engine Coolant Temperature) circuit range / performance problem
90 Evaporative Emission Control System leak detected in the fuel tank area
91 Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor low input
92 Evaporative Emission Control System insufficient purge flow
i can only see 41 being the possible reading through the blinks...
any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance!

is there any way you can make a video of you jumping the plug?

i did that the other day with my digital camera since it hard for me too trying to figure out what the code is.

thanks 90accord... now, does anyone know where these sensors are located? haha

code 9 is CYP = Cylinder Position sensor circuit.
The CYP sensor determines timing for the fuel injection and ignition of each cylinder and also detects engine speed. The DTC sensor determines ignition timing at start-up (cranking) and when crank angle is abnormal. The CYP sensor detects the position of No. 1 Cylinder for sequential fuel injection to each cylinder.

Which all this means either trouble in the wiring or plug to the distribrutor or need to replace that distributor.
i just googled this about code 9... is this true?

well, i had code #41 in my Accord a few months ago too, and the primary oxygen sensor heater is the small heater inside the o2 sensor that heats it up to operating temperature. without this heater working, the o2 sensor won't be able to heat up to work.

            solution = new o2 sensor

that's basically what i was told when i asked.

as for the other code, i have no idea.

41 is usually O2 sensor, as mentioned above.

The cylinder position sensor is in the distributor.

Try resetting the ECU and then see if you still get code 9.

i found a F22B2 motor and it has the O2 sensor as well as the distributor, will it work with the F22A1 motor?

It should, assuming that the O2 sensor on that motor is good. As for the dizzy, they are all supposed to be interchangeable. All you need is the sensor, though.

ahhh alright thanks alot, almost pulled off a distributor. could i replace the cylinder sensor inside of the distributor or would it be wise to replace the whole distributor? or is the o2 sensor causing the cylinder sensor error to occur. again, thanks for all the help!

I'd do the O2 sensor first, clear the codes, and then see if that code comes back.

There is no need to replace the entire dizzy. Just swapping the sensors is good enough.

alright, been awhile and i got the O2 replaced and i reset the ECU to clear the Codes. Did the paper clip trick and Code 9 is still there and the engine runs as it did before. sputters once warm (roughly 10 or so minutes of driving). Code 41 is now gone (O2 Sensor Heater).

Sooo..... the Cylinder Sensor is located inside of the Distributor? does anyone know exactly what it looks like or what it is?

IF SOMEONE WOULDN'T MIND CIRCLING IT OUT FOR ME IN PAINT. WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. THANKS!!!

I don't believe the sensor in the dist can be replaced by itself, you have to change the distributor, or at least the bottom half. I think it's 3 sensors in one.....

And hopefully 41 can be fixed with a new O2

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

alright thanks. the code 41 did go after i replaced the O2 and reset the ECU. im gonna pull the distributor off the F22B2 and see if that one will work. thanks for the help everyone.
