ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    5 speed swap

What are the pros and cons of swapping in a manual 5 speed. I searched the forum and I have found post on completing the swap but haven't found any on the pros and cons of the swap.

    Cons:
The only one I can think of is having to shift gears. Laters.

        Pros:
        -slightly better fuel economy
        -significant increase in performance
-much longer lifespan of your brakes
        -generally longer transmission lifespan
        -easier to change transmission fluid
-ultimately more control over your car
        Cons:
-requires learning how to drive it
-requires clutch changes, but clutch may live for 150,000miles if driven properly
-not as "easy" to drive as automatic

No. It requires you to learn to drive it shifting gears. Not as easy as an auto.
My wagon by the way is 5-speed swapped.

yea, that's one of the most annoying problems. if you have to deal with a lot of stop-and-go traffic everyday you're going to wear out your clutch faster. but besides that, there aren't really any other cons that weren't already mentioned.

                i say go for it!

i'm heavily debating about this swap also but i think i'm going to use the ESP mounts instead of cutting and welding the prelude mounts.

That's TOTALLY not true. Just make sure you don't have to shift for a while... or teach her how to do it without looking.

The pros and cons to swapping are just the same as the pros and cons of having a manual transmission. It's not that difficult of a concept to grasp. Do you want to shift your gears manually, or not? If you don't see the benefit, don't do it.

                              ...Cons...?

                              Don't think so..

                              Pros:

                              No more slippy/laggy auto tranny
Not as heavy as an auto trans
                              Better throttle response
                              More fun
Meh, not feeling the honda game anymore.
