ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

There are so many things in life that we don't see the benefits to until others suggest/speak of them, then we ASK a few questions and decide if it is for us. Thanks for your answer though.

The reason I asked is because I have 2 Accords and I recently came across 2 more; one of the 2 has a 5 speed and low miles (wrecked) and the other is nearly rust free, but needs an engine swap. Thanks for all answers.

The total costs (parts and labor) for such a swap.

I will be able to do it when the city gets off my back (10 cars at one residence against city ordinance) or I finish parting out some of the cars I have. Parts should be minimal because donor car is complete.

I only get irritated when it seems that you're merely trying to whore your way to 30 posts by asking "what's good about a manual transmission". I figured it'd be nicer of me to say "do it if you want, don't do it otherwise" and not lock your thread, rather than deleting it and costing you half your post count. It is only because I have seen you being helpful to others that I did not do that.

The pros and cons of a manual transmission are this:

          Pros:
stock for stock, manual is faster
          less drivetrain loss
internal parts don't wear as quickly (though the synchronizers DO wear on our cars)
A clutch is relatively easy to replace
          better fuel economy
you feel more "in touch" with your car
other tuners will have more respect for your car.

          Cons
          no transmission fluid dipstick
you need to weld, or get a custom mount, to properly convert
manual transmission in traffic is no fun
stopping on a hill can be a scary experience, even after you're familiar with manual
it's easier to lose traction if you aren't careful in bad weather
accidentally stalling out makes you feel really really stupid.

That's not the transmission swap though... that's a bad clutch install. When you install a new clutch, the flywheel must be new or resurfaced. Everything must be torqued down properly, and then broken in correctly.
