ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    leaky oil filter

hey, guys!! noticed a few spots of oil here and there about the driveway, and thought it was brothers car, as he takes his car to quikie lube, suggested he take his cobalt back and have them check bolt and filter. he said all is well. so, since I recently changed oil, on my own, I jacked up my cb7, and took a quick look, and saw that the oil gasket was leaking. I checked to see how tight it was, so, I back ed it off, and retightened, it was alittle tighter than it shouda been, but Ive had them tighter without prob. So, I figured I 'rippled' the gasket, and just whent to the store and grabbed a new one and spun it on. Ill check it again in a week. the gasket surface on the engine feels good and smooth. do you think the filter gasket was bad? Or did I tighten too much? Ive allways changed my own oil, and never had this problem. what do you think?

these cars have a oil cooler which the oil filter spins on. then the oil cooler is bolted to the block. the gasket between the =cooler and the block is a common gasket to go bad on a cb7. honda sells the gasket for like $3.50 bucks

would it be a good idea to replace this gasket when replacing the oil pan gasket?

The cooler o ring only applies if you have an EX or SE accord. LX/DX models do not have this. If its not leaking its kinda pointless to replace it unless you just want an ease of mind.

I forgot how big the nut was but you break off the nut and the oring should be right there.

someone recently bumped a 2 month old thread about this. one reply was that the nut is a 30mm. is it around the threaded part that the filter spins on? if it is, when I take that off, should the adapter come right off? and cant I get the gasket from schmuck's or napa?

another common thing with these cb7's is that there oil pan bolts become loose. Check to see if they are tight. If they aren't tighten in down but not too tight and it could take care of your problem. as far as the oil filter it should come right off and napa i believe has it.
