Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Blown Engine: Swap Advice/Suggestions

So I blew my motor yesterday with a little less than 190,000 miles on the clock. I recently swapped my automatic for a manual (got it done about 2 weeks ago) and on my 1st highway run, at about 90mph, rod #3 broke (one side of the rod cap broke away from the rod). And at this point, it seems as though the bolt did not break... its still attached to the cap, which looks like an 'S' now, instead a 'U'. This allowed the rod to become disconnected from the crankshaft, which in turn pushed the rod through the block. I'll post more pictures once I disassemble the block.

I've got a spare block I was saving for sleeving, extra rods, pistons and a crankshaft. But I don't want to just swap in a stock F22.

I'm trying to figure out if I should just use my spare F22 block and get forged internals, or go the H route. I've found a quite a few low-priced H22's and even some VTEC H23's, but I don't know what would really be better to do.

So I guess my question is, what do YOU think I should do? Stock H22, 23, or built F22?

I'm personally leaning towards a built F22, 1) Because it would be like having a new motor, but stronger, and 2) I don't hear many good things about the H-series FRM sleeves. Though, starting out with 200HP would be great...

DAAAYYYYYYYYYUUUMMMMM!!!! swap time. Shouldn't have pushed it and waited till you had the feel for the 5spd first. IF you were new to 5spd i mean.

Go for h22 for NA or other for boost or aowihoasho gafvboahwkhaoha

Ya, I was learning manual at the time. I swapped my car to a manual without ever having driven one before... but everything felt fine... until it broke. It kind of just happened all at once. The car stopped accelerating, then 2 tenths of a second later, there was a loud, indescribable noise and a smoke cloud. I'm sure there wasn't much I could have done to prevent anything... but we'll see once I tear it all apart.

And ya... twas my 1st blown motor, so it was pretty intense. Luckily I had enough sense to disengage the clutch and put it and neutral, and enough momentum to coast to a gas station about a quarter of a mile from my house.

i see...well you're lucky as hell enough to survive that sheeit since it didnt blow towards ya. ...It means you HAVE TO swap it then haha.

Ah that sucks. What was revs up to?

I am doing my 5 speed swap now.

Luckily I drove a stickshift supra the whole winter so I got a feel for it.

Maybe you'll have a better setup. and luckily it was not in the coldest time of the year, you can have it up by next month with enough motivation
Meh, not feeling the honda game anymore.

I'm not entirely sure what RPM I was at, but it was fairly high (4500-5500). And ya, I def. plan on having a better setup soon.

So does anyone have any info to throw-down?
I know the H22 is good for NA for many reasons, but whats the horsepower cap? What can the H22 make NA? With Stock Internals? Reliably? I'm guessing nothing to spectacular.

I know Bisi is pulling 400HP out of an F22 NA, and thats kind of been my basis for my original build. But just knowing that 400HP is acheivable, is kind of what I'm looking for. I really want to build a block instead of just going the easier route of dropping in an H22. I'm looking for reasons why the H22 is altogether better than the F22, and what should make me want to swap one in, other than the fact that it starts out with more HP, since I'm intent on replacing most of the rotating assembly in the near future anyway.

Give me comparative head-flow numbers, RL/S ratios, stories of reliable high HP H22's or something. I just don't want to waste money where it could have been spent better. If 400HP is do-able with the H22, is it reliable? And what about sleeving? At what point will it become a necessity?

In theory, Im guessing the H22 can handle more HP than the F22, but I don't really know, thats why I'm asking.

Also, as for getting an H22, what are some reliable distributors? I've found alot of motors, just not sure if I can trust the companies...

I mean, $1000 for an H22 long-block seems really cheap to me...

just go with the built f22 less hassel than getting a motor from over seas and not knowing if it was taken care of just my 0.02$

I just roasted my motor too, on Friday, so I'm going through the same thoughts in my head. I've got every bolt on + t3/t4, so I'm probably going to rebuild it with forged internals. I suggest another F22, build it, and spank every simple H22 swaps out there.
F22a1, T3/T4 turbo, Greddy Type RS BOV on left-over AEM CAI piping, Turbo XS manual boost controller, PHAT intercooler, Crzy tuning, Walbro fuel pump, AEM FPR/fuel rail/pulleys/cam gear, Gude cam and throttle body, MSD ignition/cap/coil, NGK wires and Iridium plugs, Fidanza flywheel, ACT clutch, Nuespeed short shifter

9 lbs on stock internals (for 10 min)
                      16.2 1/4 mile with basics
                      ??.? 1/4 mile with turbo
                      139 hp with all bolt-ons
                      ??? hp with turbo

                      STAY TUNED

i would go the route oh the h22. The main reason is because of oil flow. if you plan on going all motor you will need better oil flow which will also means your engine should last longer, and the h22 has oil squirter's. i personally would go with the h22. I blew my motor up about a month back and just finished putting to together my h22 today and cant wait to get it in.
