ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Is it worth it 2 buy a seized H22 for $200

My boy works @ shop that specializes in acura & honda and a couple of weeks ago a customer came there with a 99 Prelude the motor had seized because he only put 3 quarts of oil in it. My friends boss is cool with are team so he knew I wanted that motor since I drove a Lude b4, he did the swap on the lude and the owner said he can keep the seized motor, now he will sell it 2 me for $200 The motor has 67,389 mi , but what will I have 2 do 2 bring it back 2 life, and will it come 2 the amount of buying a fresh H?

That motor is worth nothing IMO. Also how in the hell did he sieze it up with 3 qts of oil in there? Are H22s that oil sensative? I've run3 qts in my F22 more times than I cared to when I had that leaking VCG and oil burning due to valve seals. If that H is siezed like I'm thinking you'll have to replace the cylinder block or rebuild it.

3 qts? Hell, I've had to run my F22 on TWO quarts, and it was fine. Made me a bit nervous, however!

Not to be critical, but I doubt running 2 or 3 qts left your car running fine... I think it worked but I'm pretty sure there was increased wear somewhere.

Shite, I've seen people run a honda engine (not sure which) with water in the engine rather than oil... yes they wanted to destroy it. It actually lasted for 5 min or so before seizing.

To bring that H back, perhaps a minimal honing of the cylinders would be a good idea. While you're at it put high quality aftermarket parts in. Lighter rods/pistons, etc.

yo sam yea it might be worth picking it up and letting someone rebuild it. It might come out to be alittle more than the cost of a normal h22 but everything will be new and fresh for the philly street races LOL

My F22A1 always takes 3.5 quarts of Castrol GTX High Mileage 10W-40 oil and a Purolator oil filter.

That 5 speed h22 tranny is worth $200. Get it.

But you will most likely have to get another block.

If the H block is re-sleevable, I say sure go pick it up and build. I would, but that's just me. I would love to find a H22 cheap. I would rebuild it.

if you were wanting to do a massive build then worth it...as even if it wasn't seized you'd be doing the same work.

But if you wanted a mild build...not worth it.

You will have do basically redo EVERYTHING...assuming the block isn't cracked too...not sure how likely that would be.

i took apart a motor that was seized and the reason why it seized was the main bearing spun and basically made it impossible to turn which mad eit a bitch to take apart.

with that being said, the crank would need to be reground, main caps cut and a line hone.

                              that would be bare minimum...
it would also be a great time to put the f22 crank and rods and stroke that sumabitch.
