So, I'ma start off with thanking everyone on the site. If it wasn't for this site, honestly...I woulda gotten rid of the car when the engine blew. But, I didn't get rid of it. Got the estimate today. 940 bucks. Got the engine from Henderson Auto in PA, for 300 bucks. It's an A1. My original's an A6. No big deal though, cause the guy had no problem changin' my intake manifolds. He replaced quite a bit on the engine, includin' seals, both timing belts, and the waterpump. For an engine I paid 300 bucks for, when he let me start it Saturday afternoon, it runs better than my other one did when I first got it! Tuesday I'll have the money to get it out of the shop and I'll be back on track. But, beyond the excitement, the guy came across oneeeeeeee problem. See, I had my header replaced with a dc-sports header. The guy that put the header on, and did my whole exhaust, said he couldn't find the wire for my upstream oxygen sensor. So, he just plugged the o2 sensor in, but never hooked it up. Thing is...shouldn't the engine I just got....have one in the same place? He said he couldn't find any hookup for the upstream. I was wonderin' about it anyway, cause after I got the header, and exhaust done....I actually lost about 40 miles to the tank. I'd get around 330-340 to the tank, and it went down to about 280-290. If anyone's got any input, lemme know!

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Still running the A1 camshaft, with the A6 intake, and ecu.
I would say thats making it run slightly rich causing the lower gas mileage
Edit: do you mean he plugged in the oxy sensor wiring, but diddn't fit the sensor? Or vise versa?Last edited by evil_demon_01; 03-30-2008, 01:01 AM.

Originally posted by NorcoAccordthe a1 and a6 o2 senors are in different spots on the header. The person ahead of me said about the ecu making you run richer I agree, but 40 miles seems too much imo. see if you can find an lx or a dx ecu and see how it runs then who knows.

The plug's still in the header. Just, can't find the wiring? I didn't know if this car has 2 o2 sensors, or just 1. And if I was to get an lx or dx ecu, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of swappin' the intake manifold? And I haven't driven the car yet. Just, before the engine blew and all, when I got the header and exhaust done, just seemed like I lost about 2-3 miles to the gallon. So I'm pretty sure there was a wire for the o2 sensor there before. I'll have to look under the car, and see if they placed the other o2 sensor somewhere else, and used that wiring? I'll take pictures and all Tuesday. It's a 2 piece header (pretty sure they all are), and right where they connect, is where the upstream o2 sensor is. Can't remember if that's where it was on the old header.98' Mustang 3V Swap

It's hard to find parts from an A6. They're kinda rare. Maybe I can find where he got the engine taken to. Most likely, a junkyard. But what else should I get from the a6, that I'd need? I'm pretty much gonna try everything, to get this A1 back to my A6. Automatic + A1 = Noooooo98' Mustang 3V Swap

which engine harness did the mechanic use? If he used the one that came with the a1 engine, the wiring for the o2 sensor will be up front somewhere where the 2 pieces of the header join together, and you'll have to extend them. Also, if he used that harness, there is no hook up for the IABs. If he used the harness from your old a6, then the 02 wire should be dangling down near where your oil filter is, To put your car back to a6 status you'll only need the cam/head from an a6 as you already have the manifold and ecu that came with the car,
