ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Also, keep in mind that most suppliers build parts to their customer's specs. That means that the plugs carried at Autozone may not be exactly the same as those carried by Honda, even though they both fit the car. A place like Autozone is more likely to request a lower quality part simply so they can sell it cheaper. OEM rubber seals are a good example. Just because the company supplies both Hyundai and Honda, does not mean that the two seals are identical.
hmm, okay gonna fill up w/ chevron/QT/Mobil from now on.

Higher Octane Gas = lower cylinder temps! Thats why when we would race we used 117+ octane.... we could get more oxygen into the engine to burn cooler and hence more RPMs...

I would guess they were spaced too wide and the outside electrode got too hot because of the stronger spark between electrodes. I always gap mine to the minimum amount I think it was .039... cause they tend to widen over time.

I have seen spark plugs like this on lawn mowers when the gap is too wide btw!

hmmm, that makes sense, but isn't the optimum oct. 87 for our cars? w/ the F22 engine?

it idles perfect, right at 750-800 depending on if the A/C's on or not, right NOW. But before, w/ those other NGK's, only just yesterday it started acting up like that and eventually, broke i guess, it just all of a sudden started misfiring and bogging down the RPMs at like 40mph+...going on the freeway, forget it wouldn't even go past 3K rpms.

Under most conditions our cars are tuned to run on 87 octane. It is really to save the owner money. The problem is that our engines have no knock sensor, and over time, we can get carbon build up etc. This makes it more likely that you are going to encounter detonation in extremely high temps such as here in the summertime. Hot intake air temps don't help either, such as when your CAI gets heatsoaked while crawling along in traffic.

P.S. I am trying to figure out when I can get down there to help you.

X2 on this..while lean is fast, lean is hotter and stuff breaks easier when induced to extreme temps. You arent getting a proper amount of fuel to your engine. Maybe due to low fuel pressure, clogged injectors. Youre not boosted are you?

nope not boosted. I was thinking about getting that Bisimoto phenolic IM gasket since its only 50 bucks it'll help reduce the temps hopefully. But as for injectors, how would one diagnose them? would the only way to inspect them be to remove them from the fuel rail? I've got 171K so idk if they're spent yet.

Bump for a quick ? Do you think a bad or going bad O2 sensor could cause the plugs to get so hot? Should I consider replacing it if I'm experiencing this? I don't currently have a check engine light or anything like that but I havn't replaced the O2 since I bought the car 4 yrs ago @ 118K miles....I've got 171 now.

well I was thinking maybe theres something on the engine thats telling your ECU/F-injectors to put more gas. I mean wouldnt that cause things in combustion camber to heat up & melt?
