I just changed the front pads and rotors on my 93 ex with ABS. i got the job all done and went to go pump up my brakes with the car off, they got rock solid. I turned the car on and went to step on the brake pedal and it went near the floor. i tore everything back apart and tried to look for an answer, i got nothing. just for shits and giggles on the ABS system is there a check valve that could have got screwed up or push into the wrong place while pushing the piston in. if so is there a procedure to put it back in its place. if not then what could be the prob. I already bled them BTW.

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

You didn't drain the fluid at all?
How about the fluid reservoir... did you open that up when you changed the pads? It's best to do so, so the fluid level can freely rise. You may have had to remove some fluid as well.
If you did nothing at all regarding the fluid, and the pedal is going to the floor, your brake master cylinder may have just taken a crap on you.

It could still be the master cylinder. It doesn't fail completely... not all the time... It's a plunger in a cylinder, almost like a shock. As it fails, it allows the fluid to pass by the plunger, where it shouldn't be. Mine has been slowly failing for years... In the heat, or after I do a lot of heavy braking, the pedal will sink. I really need to replace it! (waiting to afford the ROH and rear discs thuogh!)

I think you might have inadvertly gotten air in the MC from somewhere. Which sux, because now you have to bleed the brakes. Start furthest from the MC. That would be the right rear. bleed that caliper, then move on to the left rear, to left front and so on. At least try that first and you might not have to shell out $$ for a new MC.Last edited by Fake Thug; 03-29-2008, 09:40 PM.
