ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Help!!!!!!

I just changed the front pads and rotors on my 93 ex with ABS. i got the job all done and went to go pump up my brakes with the car off, they got rock solid. I turned the car on and went to step on the brake pedal and it went near the floor. i tore everything back apart and tried to look for an answer, i got nothing. just for shits and giggles on the ABS system is there a check valve that could have got screwed up or push into the wrong place while pushing the piston in. if so is there a procedure to put it back in its place. if not then what could be the prob. I already bled them BTW.

did you by any chance take the calipers off. If you did, did u put them back on the right side. Is the bleeder valve on top or bottom of the caliper. I once swaped calipers on the wrong side on a diff car and it didn't even want to idle right if u can believe that

As mentioned above, did you take the caliper all the way off (as in, disconnect the brake lines)? If you didn't, and just pushed the piston back in, then you will probably have to pump the brakes a couple of times with the car on to firm it back up.

You didn't drain the fluid at all?

How about the fluid reservoir... did you open that up when you changed the pads? It's best to do so, so the fluid level can freely rise. You may have had to remove some fluid as well.

If you did nothing at all regarding the fluid, and the pedal is going to the floor, your brake master cylinder may have just taken a crap on you.

that was my first thought too, the m.c. took a dump on me. but then i test drove the car to see if it would change anything and the brakes still work and hold pressure its just that the pedal goes down near the floor.

It could still be the master cylinder. It doesn't fail completely... not all the time... It's a plunger in a cylinder, almost like a shock. As it fails, it allows the fluid to pass by the plunger, where it shouldn't be. Mine has been slowly failing for years... In the heat, or after I do a lot of heavy braking, the pedal will sink. I really need to replace it! (waiting to afford the ROH and rear discs thuogh!)

I think you might have inadvertly gotten air in the MC from somewhere. Which sux, because now you have to bleed the brakes. Start furthest from the MC. That would be the right rear. bleed that caliper, then move on to the left rear, to left front and so on. At least try that first and you might not have to shell out $$ for a new MC.

maybe the bolt on the mc/pedal is too far back? so it activates later?

The little attachement with the cotter pin and stuff spins, could try loosing it to furthest level (on the pedal)
Meh, not feeling the honda game anymore.

even though i dont think that could be the prob because it was fine before, the brakes just sucked.
