ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    "Lucas Stop Slip"

Has anyone here every used lucas stop slip. My friend told me if would be good for my car since the transmission is slipping. but what is your guys is feedback on if you've used it? Or do you suggest something else? thnx

i've used it but my tranny wasn't slipping it was making a wining sound like the pump was going. I flused my tranny out and added that with the new fluid and my tranny has never ran so good since I've had the car. It runs very smooth. i also use the other products too they work extremely well!

i'd guess that if your transmission is starting to slip from failure, then you have nothing to loose. however, i would check the fluid level before i did anything else, because low trans fluid can cause it to slip also. lastly, is it possible that non-honda ATF was used? later.

I have wondered about that. i know the oil and tranny fluid is good but I was curious about the ps fluid.. i don't know of anyone who has used that yet.

I've used Lucas gear oil and that stuff in a friend of mines manual and it seemed to work ok though once your tranny is slipping its on its last legs.

I dont know why Honda doesnt say to use 10W30 in manual OR 75W-95 Gear oil... but I can tell you that the gear oil is essentials the exact same viscosity with better heat and breakdown characteristics. If you can get a 75-100+ synthetic would be even better if you think your tranny is slipping.. something like 90-140 gear oil would be ideal assuming it isnt too cold where you live. Manuals like thicker oil when they get older.

No, that is not correct. Honda recommends MTF in the manuals, 10w30 in a pinch. The synchos WILL NOT like the heavy gear oils designed for HD trucks. If you haven't ever used Honda's MTF before, try it on the next change. You will notice the difference.

In my honda manual it says use SAE grad SE or SF 10W-30... no mention of MTF fluid at all.

MTF wasn't around in the early 90s, but it is the recommended fluid now.

yea something like syncromesh would be best... but its just gear oil with stuff in it. added detergents and anti-break down agents and about 20 other chemicals that help in the process. Anything like that would be fine but for an older tranny I would go with something thicker than thinner.

I correct myself... yea Honda MTF looks to be like a very good choice compared to Syncromesh because its a bit thicker, cheaper, and good for everyday use. If you are racing or in some extreme heat I would find something thicker. Just remember to replace it regularly! I use to replace mine ever 5k with the motor oil or about every 3 months or so.

i vouch for lucas products as i've been using them for some quite some time, they are worth. except for the power steering, my honda dealer mechanic says only to use the honda power steering fluid.

using anything other than honda power steering fluid is a good way to shorten the life of your ps system. Dont do it.
