    Cooling fan wont come on...

Looking for ideas as to why it wouldnt be coming on, I have already replaced the cooling fan sensor, temp sensor, and ecm temp sensor.

Could the fan control model that inside the car under driver side dash prevent the fans from coming on? Both fans operate if jumped directly to a 12 volt source.

Tomorrow I have a feeling I'll be doing allot of meter work, testing sensors, etc...

Just looking for some quick ideas. Oh yeah already tried a new cooling fan relay in engine bay.

Honestly, your car is probably never getting hot enough. I had to let my car idle for 25 minutes just to get the fans to kick on.

If you're not overheating, I wouldn't worry about it.

Have you checked the fuses? Does your car have A/C and do the fans come on when it is turned on?
And as said above - Is it overheating?

The only time my fan comes on is on the hottest days of the summer when I sit at a red light forever. So like foamypirate said if it isn't overheating its no big deal.

you know, when i follow the Haynes manual where it says to let my engine warm up to normal idle temps( fan kicks on twice). My fan never comes on either, the rpms just drop down to ~700 and sits there but the temp gauge goes up a little. It doesn't over heat or anything it's just a little ways up from cold.

At least i know i my tstat is working because the lower hose is cold and the upper hose is hot.

Ditto...I'd have to sit there for like 50 minutes for my fans to kick on twice, lol.

I actually did a little test. I took the coolant temperature sensor, hooked it up to my continuity tester, stuck it in a pot of water, and put a digital thermometer in the water.

The sensor tripped closed (which would turn on the fans) at 205* F, and went open again at 200* F. Basically, your coolant would have to be at 205* F before your fans kick on.

Actually my car is overheating, after sitting idle for 20 minutes or more, its starts a slow creep all the way to the top...no fans ever kick on, if I turn the ac on...neither fan starts up.

is that normal, to have my lower hose cold, and the upper hose hot. even after driving for 30+ minutes? and does the lower hose ever get warm/hot

                          1. Check your wiring.
                          2. Make sure the fan switch that detects temp on the head is functioning properly.
                          3. Make sure fan is plugged in.
                          4. If those check out you might be the lucky winner of two crapped out fan motors which is something I have never seen before.

Your radiator hoses are supposed to be about equal temp and stiffness if the T-stat opens up.

The lower hose is supposed to be cold, ESPECIALLY after driving. That's the coolant return, after it's been cooled by the radiator. If it gets too hot, THEN you have a problem. It will however warm up after idling for a while, at which point, the fans will kick on (20+ minutes of idling).

If your moving. Thatts how you know the radiator is working properly. Another way is to use a temp gun. IDling when the t stat is open both should be equal stiffness and just about equal heat. You can test your hoses when your driving unless you have some sort of temp sensor on the inlet and outlet of the radiator.
