ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    fan problem

i have a problem my fans dont turn on they only turn on when i turn
the ac on what could be the problem i changed the relay, the fuse, and the
sensor and still what could the problem be

    #2
The only thing I can think of is the fan control module itself. My fans are the exact same way. They both kick on whenever I turn on the AC, but they have only ever turned on ONCE otherwise.

test the ohms on your cooling fan tempature sensor. cb7s have like four cooling tempature sensors. one for the gauge, the cooling fan the ac fan and i fogot what the other one was for. but check those out and see if there any good, there pretty damn cheap, and being as old as our cars are id just go ahead and replace em all even if it doesnt fix your problem you know your good to go with those. hope i could help good luck and happy tuning.

        1. The fan will turn on if it senses the need to. Thats why there is a temp sensor if it senses its under the limit it wont turn on.

        2. When you turn on AC it applies a bigger load on the system and the two fans help cool the motor down while bringing air through the radiators and condensor.

        3. Both fans should come on with AC. If one isnt working fan itself is bad if all the wiring checks out. If the radiator fan isnt coming on then its either it doesnt sense the motor to be gettin hot enough to need it and so on.

i am having the same problem. i've checked my fans, they are both working and in good condition. but i think the main problem is either the thermostat being stuck, or the temp sensor near the thermostat being bad. thats going to be my next project.

Are you guys overheating or what? My car at idle when i was idling to normal operating temperature to bleed the system of coolant, would never get the fans on unless i turned the AC on.

If your car isnt overheating, then why are you worried about it?

overheating is exactly what we are worrying about, coz we don't use a/c all the time and the fan will never spin unless a/c is on

I just left my car idleling for about 20 minutes yesterday. The temp gauge never went above the regular spot, and the fans DID kick on once.

More than likely, your motor just isn't hot enough to warrant kicking the fans on.

You only need to worry if your temp gauge goes towards the H.

Your not going to blow the headgasket just becasue the fan dosent come on. The fan comes on at a certain temp., if your coolant never reaches that temp your fan will not come.

I could leave my car idling for a whole day, and i doubt my fan would even come on.

Try it on the summer time. As everybody had said you might not reach the temp. for the fan to turn on. If the car does not overheat then your fine.

if you already replaced the "connector" located on the thermostat housing and the fan is still not working when the engine is really hot, try to replace the thermostat. not too hard of a job, just drain the coolant and take off the thermostat housing unit.

also does both of your hose, upper and lower, get hot when your engine is hot, because i am having the same problem you are, and my lower hose doesnt even get warm. so i believe its due to the thermostat being stuck.

for now, until i have some free time, im just going to connect the fan straight to the power source with a "switch" on the dash, turning the fan on and off when i want.

Yep...And either way if you start running your car hot your gonna be asking for more trouble than just a head gasket.
