ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

You might want to try adjusting your idle speed as well. With the motor fully warmed up, disconnect your IACV (the only thing with an electrical plug on it, right on the front of your intake plenum), then adjust the idle screw on your throttle body until your idle is at 550 rpm. Turn off the car, plug the IACV back in, disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to reset the ECU. Go ahead and start your car, it should idle around 750 rpm or so now, in and out of gear.

This solved a lot of my vibration issue.

If the motor is vibrating harshly then new mounts won't fix it, and may possibly even transmit more of the engine's idle vibration into the chassis. If you're idle speed is too low then you have to address that, not the mounts.

Worn / broken mount rubbers will be more of a problem when getting on and off the throttle, as they will allow the engine to rock back and forth under positive and negative torque loadings.

If anything broken mounts dampen more as they are easily moved around and arent really connected to the engine

Why would you think they dampen more? The point of a mount is to dampen and the older they get they transmit lower frequencies... so even if they arnt shredded they will still be transmitting lower frequencies because they are harder or broken or whatnot... Mounts are very special they just arnt pieces of rubber there for no good reason. and yea they are connected to the engine? they isolate the powerplant from the body.

I seem to go through mounts on my cars every 100-150k they arnt too expensive and they are relatively easy to replace. How often do you replace shocks on a car? same principal. stuff wears out.

Any car will vibrate (Especially a I-4) at 300-500 rpms
Mine does it, albeit very little it seems to like idleing at 350
Whats your hot idle in Park?
I've never heard of any automobile engine being able to idle at 350 RPM... That said, the tach only goes down to 500.

Mine vibrates at about 700 RPM... but since I swapped the ECU it's been idling at about 800 which is about perfect.

Exactly how mine was when I bought it. I'm sure it was the reason it was for sale.
Bought all 4 engine mounts on ebay.
The front one was completely shot and the new one helped some, replaced the right side a little later when I had time, again it was better. Replaced the left one a couple of weeks ago when I did the timing belt and set the valve lash replaced wires.plugs, cap and rotor and vibration is almost gone. almost. So much better it's like a different car. The ebay left side mount had to drilled out on the front mounting hole to fit. Not a big deal.
The front, left and right mount can be replaced without digging to deep, hand tools and jack to keep the engine in place is all you need. The rear one is more involved. when you look close you will see what I mean.
Take that freek show to the park, maybe the squirrels will care.

Mine has the same problem, it vibrates only when in gear at a stop. I'm gonna wait till I do the swap and change all the mounts.
