ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Timing belt woes

hey guys, so I finally started my h23 head swap.

Got the head off, all is well. Now it is time for me to take off the original timing belt and replace it along with the lower timing gear with the h23 parts.

    Problem I encountered:

Removed the 19mm bolt holding the motor mount to the chassis. Then realized I needed to remove the motor mount completely in order for the timing belt to be removed and iinstalled. Took off the 17mm bolt and nut, and removed the mount. The I realized the belt won't come off slash go on without taking off the lower timing cover haha. Took off two bolts, then found two lower bolts rusted to shit and not budging. So after debating with me, myself and I, and excoupe92, I decided to break the lower timing cover until I got it off.

Nowwwwww....I have a semi broken lower timing cover, with the original timing belt and balancer belt and water pump still on the block haha. I made myself stop working on the car for the night so i can start fresh tomorrow.

I have been following Alldata, Chilton's and a couple random DIY's on how to remove this bitch, but nothing seems to go my way.

    Any input?

First you should take the crank pulley off and don't loose the little key that slides in the crank shaft and crank pulley. Then remove the 10mm bolts holding the covers on top and bottom. If take all the mounts out besides the tranny mount and put the oil pan on a jack with a 2 by 4 on it you can raise and lower the motor to get to things better.

alright, I'll try taking off more mounts. That makes sense. I only have the drivers side mount out.

        alright.

took out the ac compressor and bracket, and the front motor mount. Along with the drivers side mount. Lowered the engine down so I could reach those bolts holding the lower cover on. Took em out. Now the adjuster bolt is holding the lower cover in place, which is almost stripped.

Haha god damn this thing is really more work than I expected
