ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Low Idle

okay ive been having some problems with my idle recently. it use to idle erratically but i tightened down the FITV and that took care of that but now it idles at around 700 rpms and sometimes goes as low as 600. i followed the procedure on how to adjust it with the screw but still have a low idle. anything else it could be?

700 is good for a 5spd and 800 would be ideal for an auto.

i've got an auto and once it's warm, it idles around 750 but that's according to a hand held engine analyzer.

My car started to do this when i first put my A6 cam in. It would go so low my car would stall out if i wasent careful.

A qux fix is to tighten you throttle cable. Cables do stretch.

I put an Pt6 ecu and it cleared it up. But im just sayin, A temorary fix, if your ldle is so low its makin you worried (like mine did), just do that till you can figure it out.

check to see if your throttle body is dirrrty.

also, maybe it is time for plugs, wires, and a fuel filter??? How long has it been since you have changed them?

not sure. i have to ask the guy who i bought the car from but when i took it to a mechanic he said that all the wires looked brand new. mayb i just need a new fuel filter and oil change. evrytime i put the car in neutral the idle drops to 600 then catches itself and settles at 700. btw i drive a 92 accord ex manual

Lot of idle questions floating around...here's another

at what rpm does the oil pressure drop to where it could be bad?

                        idle problemas!

X2 on the plugs, wires, possible filter. After all that, try a good SeaFoam treatment. I've used it before and I stand behind it because I know it works.

P.S. Idle (after the car warms up) is supposed to be 700-800 but if it's fluctuating and/or your experiencing loss of pwr while driving/idling, check those ideas out. Good Luck!

I always forget to recommend plugs...etc etc...need to quit forgetting those.

of course if all that is ok...then don't forget to clean the iacv and throttle body...followed by the proper idle adjustment...and likelyhood of that screw backing itself out over time...like mine (sometimes as little as 4days!) Then of course the fast idle valve adjustment too.

It seems like it doesn't matter how much I turn the screw.. The idle rises but then after 30 minutes it goes bac to 600-700. Don't know whatelse to do
