Okay, heres the deal. I've got a 1990 Accord LX (four-door) automatic. It's got just over 269,000 miles. I've owned the car for about 2 years and I've put about 25,000 miles on it in that time. Most of these early miles were from highway driving 220 miles one way from home to college.
Well now I started delivering pizzas and am putting A LOT of city miles on my car and wanted to see if you all think my gas mileage is good/right and if not, what I should do to improve it? Since I started delivering I've been getting around 19-21 mpg. I live in Wisconsin and its been pretty cold so I let my car warm up and stay running while I'm taking pies to peoples doors, so that probably lowers that number a bit.
Does that sound normal, or low? I plan to do the plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor once it gets warmer out. I also have been thinking about doing the full Seafoam treatment. Does anyone have any other suggestions to improve my gas mileage or any relatively inexpensive mods/upgrades that might help?
I know someone is going to mention that I should watch my driving habits and I do, the car is old and the tranny is original so I do my best to baby the car.
Thanks guys.
