ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Solid CEL?

    Solid CEL?

When I try to pull codes from my ECU I just get a solid CEL light. I've searched and apparently this can mean a faulty ECU or bad connection or something, however I haven't got a CEL light while driving and the car drives and shifts as it always has. Is there anything else that can cause a solid CEL when pulling codes, or is it possible that there are problems with my ECU even though my car seems to be operating normally?

if you don't have any codes stored, when you try to pull them the CEL will be solid. your fine

      ^^^ beat me to it.

Can I ask why you are trying to pull codes when you don't have a CEL while your driving? A solid CEL with the SRS connector jumped means that there are no codes stored on the ECU and everything is operating within specs. No worries

Oh, well thats a simple answer that makes me happy to hear! I feel kinda dumb asking it now that I know the answer, but I guess I figured better safe than sorry. Thanks for the quick responses.

I have no really good reason for trying to pull codes...I just started driving full time delivering pizza about 3 weeks ago and I've been putting a lot more miles on the car so I guess I just wanted to check things out...

Faulty ECU gives a blank code. Meaning no CEL light.

Since you're driving alot. Just take care of the car's oils.

Werd. For some reason I was not able to think of the word "Fluid". I keep thinking about it but never popped out.

Thanks again for the input. I've been doing my best to baby my car because I just hit 270,000 and I'd like to see it make it to at least 300,000. Trans fluid, oil and coolant were changed within the last month. All other fluids were checked and everything good. My mechanic said I have a very small oil leak but for 270,000 it isnt too big and it doesnt burn oil. It'll be in the shop in a few weeks to get the timing belt changed.
