ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Decisions...HELP

i'm currently working at firestone right now and they're planning on cutting people because the shop isn't making money...i know for sure i'll be the first one to go because everybody that works there has been there for years and years...I recently got hired at a toyota dealership to be a tech trainee but I'd have to drop one of my college class (automotive brakes system)....my question for you guys is....should I take the job or should i not take it and keep taking my brake class and wait for another opportunity?

        what's your priority?
in reality.. your bills would go up as you get older.. and you'd make more when you're done with school faster..

i say.. keep the class and wait for another opportunity..

all i have to say is that jobs come and go. dont get too caught up in "its my dream job" because in reality, if you have the education you can always get that same job later and at a higher pay. id say stick with education.

I'm currently doing the same thing sort of....studying Mech. Engineering at ASU. Boy its tough. Physics and Mechanics especially. I used to work at Discount Tire and Fletcher Tire and Auto. It is pretty tough having a job and going to school full time. When I had my tire tech job at discount, my grades were droping to the point where im in the same boat as I was last year, repeating Physics, Mechanics and Differential Equations. So just look at it this way, you may make maybe 20K as a trainee tech your first year or you can go to college and furthur your education. Because once you get out and have your degree, job offers will be flying at you. By then you'll be qualified for the job of your dreams and school will be done with and something to look back upon with pride. Engineers make about 50-60K right outta college, so if you get your BSE degree, in your first year you'll already make more than you did in two years of being a tech.

What will get you to your career goal faster? If you go to Toyota as a trainee, will you be able to work your way into a job that school would get you? Could it be a faster route?

If the job will get you there as fast or faster than school, then do the job and take your time with school. If school will get you there faster, then do what it takes to get through ASAP. I made the mistake of taking too long with my education. I need to go back to grad school. I can afford the money, but I can't afford the time!
