ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

That's why they call them newcomer bro...they always ask the same question...

course that's why most are confined to the noob corner here.

There was one forum I went to (not a car forum) that wouldn't let you post until you read the FAQ and posted an introduction post...pretty cool...cause the faq actually answered several of the questions I was going to ask.

Not sure what forum program it was or...hell...can't even remember the site.

I can see both of your points of view...when I was like...14 and started posting for the first time I made many mistake like that...including posting in topic that were years old...but

It does get a little frustrating having to type out an entire response when a perfectly good response is already typed out and could be found with a search...and on this site...a very quick search in fact. I.E. since I've joined I've seen several questions that could have been answered much faster with a search, and didn't need a new thread to have it answered, some were questions that I had but found for myself with a search.

Instead the poster had to wait for a response...it's not just an issue of frustration...we are trying to help folks be more efficient with their time. Why wait a day for a good reply when a good reply is only a couple clicks away? The faqs and stickys on this site are pretty well laid out...it comes down to laziness too...just seems some folks want to be given everything and not put up a little effort and get it themselves.

That's one thing that is different about this site...this is one of the few that restricts the newcomers to a beginners area...most other sites just restrict your posting ability...this site actually lets you post but in a "guarded" environment...pretty cool I think...that has it's pros and cons too but...I think the pros far outweigh the cons.

Beginner forum -- New members post here!
This is where the new members start out. In here NO question is stupid. Ask away! There are Technical/Performance, appearance, and audio subforums here as well! ALL new members with less than 30 posts are limited to this section!

There is a difference between asking a specific question, and asking to be spoon fed.

Noobs who ask for the later, are usually directed to the search function. I cant think of too many examples where a noob asked a serious, specific question, and was told to search.

            Examples:

question 1: "yo how can i put da turbos on my f22?" = bad

question 2: "Which turbo can I put on an F22?" = better, but not great

question 3: "Which size turbo can I put on my F22 to reach my goal of XXXwhp. This is for a drag racing setup only" = Best

First of all this is the reason why many get flamed in here:

Ex 1: Razif, you made this thread in the Technical/Performance forum and this has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SUBJECT, Thats why we have a Off Topic Forum for

Ex 2: "my car wount start on heat/cold", last time I saw 5 thread with the same subject... It all comes to the same answer Main Relay.

Seriously i don't mind helping anyone, actually I'm glad I could use my knowledge to help someout, but do you self a favor and do a lil search it won't do you bad.

and besides...no one was flamming...just stating frustration over great lack in the use of the search utility.

And as a new member forum...we SHOULD point out that you should TRY the search...otherwise...they never will. Granted we should do so in a gentle guidance sort of way, to lead those into the correct forum usage...and if you don't correct then no learning will occur. BUT...as it's been pointed out...you should still answer the question regardless...even if it's annoying

haven't used the size function in while...that was fun

Moved to Off Topic. I agree, this has nothing to do with Technical/Performance, and does not belong in that forum.

However, the point is valid. Telling someone to search is absolutely USELESS. If I did not make that part of the rules for this section, I will amend it as soon as I finish this reply.

Go on www.honda-tech.com. Search for... I dunno... anything. Search for "accord supercharger". Fairly narrow, right? Can't be that many superchargers for Accords. Nobody does it, so there can't be that many people asking, right? I have not searched for this myself, as this is only hypothetical... BUT... assume you do. You return 20 replies. Lots of replies! Lots of information! Yay!
You open one thread. "Are there any supercharger kits for my Accord?". First reply: "search, noob!", second reply "yeah, search. it's been covered". Locked by a moderator because it's a repeat thread.
Open another thread "i wanna supercharge my 93 accord"... ok, maybe some answers here. Nope. "Search!!!"
You weed through all 20 threads. The LAST one has an answer other than "search" in it... what does it say? "I'm not sure. Maybe GReddy?"
Yeah, that helps. 1 thread in 20, and that ONE has worthless information. THAT is what all the idiots are telling people to search for!

Repeat questions? Fine. Answer them. Or link to the threads with the answer. That way, when someone searches in the future, they won't find a million frustrating dead-ends. That only leads to the same threads beginning with "I searched, but I didn't find any answers".

So, answer the damn question, or don't post. This goes for the entire forum... but it will be enforced in the Beginner Forums strictly.

From this point on, any directions to "search" will be taken as flaming and a ban will be issued. If you want to help, answer the question. If you don't want to type it out, search it yourself and post a link! If that's too much work for you, leave it alone and let someone else who cares to take the time help out.

Accord R33 has a point about the spoon-feeding though. If someone posts a totally worthless question "how do i git da turboz for my engin?" then it's best ignored. If you wish, ask them for more details. I, personally, would just leave it. If they can't take the time to ask an intelligent question, I'm not going to waste my time giving ANY response!

Yo Razif, it is frustating at first, but it is worthwhile to browse thru.

Yeah, what Deev said is spot on.

Some noob comes and asks a question.

and he gets the SEARCH U NOOOB!! reply

atleast post a link. and then the thread is deleted, then comes another noob and asks a somewhat similar Q.

not everyone reads the stickies LOL

i myself didnt read thru the whole sticky.

The stickies are wordy, I admit... I have the tendency to do so!

Regardless, the rules are important... even though they pretty much just outline basic online manners and respect for each other. If you ever have a question as to why things are done, the answer is probably in the sticky.
