Need Advice On a New Car!!!!

Crap, I just found out as you posted that yes, you have to get a 2003+ to get a manual v6... bummer, I don't have that much money. :P Anyway, hows about the next gen up from ours... what... 94-2000 or something. Did they upgrade the engine at all? Maybe a manual 4 cylendor wouldn't be as bad as I thought?

The 6th gen is pretty good. I donno if I'd get a 5th gen. A manual 6th generation is another great car I'm considering for my next car. they really are a nice car too
Then again you said you'd be moving to cali? land of the rust free CLEAN cars.

Only thing about the sixth gen (I was just looking at a good one)... is I'd have to deal with those disgusting taillights :P I dunno, I just find them so strange. Cyclops from X-Men, anyone? I saw a modded one with a nice aftermarket set in them, maybe I'd have to do that. They have a strong engine though, and redesigned suspension... appealing.

That's what I'm thinking. I guess that's what I'm leaning towards now. What can I say, I like my accords. Only thing is... that car has a VTEC... but its "ultra low emissions" does that mean they dumbed down the performance?

How's about a '97 Prelude SH (195 HP) or related model? That could be a good step up.

I'd have to get back top you on the ULEV VTEC because I'm honestly not 100% sure how it works.

Ludes are fun cars, but I'd stick to a base model over the SH model.

How come? The SH has a better engine doesn't it?

I believe it has the same engine (power wise), however it has different mounting points for parts that attach to the engine (see link in this post). it has the ATTS system in the transmission. I honestly think if you plan to mod the lude at all it's better off to start with a base model.

You can see the differences between the SH and non SH (base). If something were to go wrong with it it's a bit hard to find parts for it.

In the end I honestly say a base lude is a better car to start with. Less to go wrong for one thing. and eaiser to mod

Ah, thanks for that. I guess now I'm between the 1999ish 2 door accord, or a lude. I saw one of those accords today, the tail lights aren't as bad as I they look online. It's actually pretty sporty looking.

"Honda calls it the Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS), and it seems likely to take front-drive performance cars another step closer to parity with their rear-drive competitors in terms of absolute handling. ATTS distinguishes the standard Prelude from the SH model, our test subject.

I got a car, I ended up getting a '98 Accord Coupe V6. Also got a nice set of 18" chrome rims with it for 700 that are valued at 2400.... pretty sweet deal. All for only 6200.

I'm sure you heard this before, but I'll just say it again. Watch that tranny closely and take good care of it.
