ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Was i wrong...

Basically to make things quick and painless, I was going car shopping for a new cb or cd for my gurl and I saw this 1 at this lot around my was. I found a 96 EX auto w/ like 120k mi. Looked at the interior... hmmm, pretty clean. Popped the hood, looks like they just cleaned the engine... ok, no problem i'll just inspect a little closer for the usual leaks and such. Front side look good, no appearant leaks from the valve cover or head. So I look at the back and at the distributer... Gunk at the back of the head and a slight leak from the distributor. No problem I figure... I'll just do a port n polish of the head, replace all upper gaskets (valve, head and distributor). So I go to pull the plugs and on every spark plug wire it's covered with oil. So i'm thinking that's not good, 1 plug wire is ok, maybe 2, but all 4... you gotta be b/s'in me! So I figure the salesman will hook me up with a killer deal cause I know I gotta do some maintaince on it. This @$$hole said $5400 for the car! I'm looking like "are you serious!?" So I tell him I wanna pay cash and try to see if he'll negotiate, he says $4900. So then I proceed to tell him about the maintaince I'll have to do and ask if he could go any lower. This prick gets mad and tells me he doesn't want my business and to leave. Talk about customer service........

Yea, I know. It's just the principal of the issue. You can't get mad at me cause I call you out on some bad sh!t that you trying to sell at a jacked up price. I guarantee i'll see some chic in that car taliking about how it's not running right. I just feel for the person who buys it and doesn't know squat about cars.

What he said. Whenever buying an old car you always ask for documents. Price seemed a lil high to me anyway. But if he gets anal about maintenance and shit then the dude is obviously hiding something. Thats when you just ignore the car completely and find another. It might look clean but it dont run right. And last thing you want is to put more money into it.

the problem with the spark plug wires is that the spark plug seal ring things not sure what they are called probably blew only about 15 bucks at advanced auto but that is too much for that old car and the mileage. Good for you.

I think if I woulda been able to get him down to like $3500 I woulda jumped on it tho'. Like I said earlier... head work was a must but then woulda torn down the whole engine just for the hell of it, replaced piston rings, main and rod bearings, timing belt and waterpump, good tune-up, and change all oil. Maybe spend about a $G in parts and did all the labor myself (minimal assistance) the ride woulda good good to go for another 150K mi. easily! And yea, I think that guy just dot pissed cause I pulled his card.

If it was that bad, you'd have to wonder what else was neglected... The car may have not even been worth that!
