ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

as for not keeping up with the supra your looking at,, well ok...
never once did i imply it would, you are talking about 2 totally different vehicles..
i made the comment of the A4 because for 20 grand instead of 15 you could have a lot more dependable and faster nice ride, than the cobalt ss.

your comment doesn't make since other than to try and get something started..
yeah it's not as fast as this viper i'm looking at,, in a magazine either.
if your getting a supra then why did you join cb7 tuners?
Hey, I'm gonna let you on a little secret myself...I got more post then you on my real SN. What's wrong with my comment? Was I flaming/hating? No...I don't care if people get pissed off at my comment either. If you got a problem with me making a comment about a colbolt SS not being able to keep up with a supra and people get pissed off at that, there are a few people that needs to grow up. and at your "if your getting a supra then why did you join cb7 tuners? " comment, I joined back in 2006 because I have 3 cb7's in my back yard.

...and oh, it's "make sense" not "make since".

      You're both wrong.

      It's "make sense".

Wow you people sound like babies.

Anywho... I, for one, don't mind the Cobalt SS one bit. It's a snazzy lookin car from the factory with a bit of potential.
Sure it's not as efficient or economical as our Accords, but I give Chevy props for taking a somewhat well-planned stab at the import market.
If they were like $8000 cheaper, I'd probably look into buying one!

Well, you would be comparing a supercharged 4-cyl to a turbocharged 6-cyl, so the Supra better be faster. Or if the Supra you're referring to is NA, a stock one ranges (depending on year) from 5 hp LESS than a Cobalt SS/SC to 15 more. And since its weight ranges (also by year) from 200 to 400 lbs more, I don't think a supercharged Cobalt + a good driver has to worry too much about a NA Supra. But its all good, I'd still love to see that race either way.

these things are pretty fast with I/h/e they are pushing close to 250. Ive seen one race a cobalt ss. And beat it. Both my buddies have one. One with the redline I/h/e and the other with a cobalt ss with i/e

And as for the Cobalt ss, They aren't that fast. Just throw a turbo on your i-4 2.2 and you got them beat just pushing 8 lbs. I say this with cofidence because i myself have raced a cobalt ss with i/e and i walked it like it was nothing. But ya as for the cobalt ss, i am not a chevy fan myself but it is nice. Especially if it is done right. But i think i would still get an SRT-4 over the Cobalt ss. Just because i like turbos better then S/c.

You sure it was an SS S/C and not an n/a SS? And mostly- , I looked at your members ride thread, do you happen to know what your pushing to the wheels with that setup?

yes i know it is s/c he is part of my race crew. And you can hear it whine like a mofo with his intake.
But i am guessing with my set-up since i have not dynoed it yet dude to my clutch slipping And basing off what i have beat i would say around 230-250whp. but that is just a guess. But i know for sure i am in the 200eds. There is a vid of me racing my friend with his 3g same setup as me and i pull on him.

As a side note to this whole thing, this is the last year for the Cobalt SS, both s/c and n/a. The s/c engine will not meet new federal emission standards that go into effect next year, so they are just dropping the s/c altogether instead of trying to adjust it. That must mean the end of the Ion Redline, too, since they are the same car (except for some styling differences). The n/a Cobalt SS is being changed to the Cobalt Sport, since Chevy is stripping the SS badge from almost everything that currently carries it. They did go overboard the last couple years with the SS badge, but interestingly almost all the reviews of the Cobalt SS (the s/c one anyway) say that it is the one car that actually deserved the badge. So tell anybody you kniow with a Cobalt SS to hold on to it if they can, because its pretty much going to become a rarer car.

As rare as the Dodge Neon SRT-4 or even the Corolla XRS?

i have been into a bit of both i guess. grew up with Chevy's and bought a 91 ex when i was in high school. about 6 months later it go totaled and i went back to Chevy's. picked up a 91 ex not to long ago and felt like finishing a project i wanted since high school. i kinda think of the 91 accord as the honda version of a 95 impala ahaha. 4 door big body baby ahahaha

funny thing is though. at my job theres these two kids that come by every night. one in a Audi and one in a cobalts SS revving and trying to spin tires all over the place. my gf dropped me off for work the other day and said the cobalt almost side swiped her cause he was speeding down a back alley. now not o nly am i going to have a coming to jesus talk with him. he motivated me to build my accord to bury his ass
