ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Found out my car might not be an LX?

I went and got insurance today and when the lady punched my VIN into the computer it told her my car is a SEI not an LX. But the car has the LX badge on the back. Maybe this car was in a wreck and they used an LX ass end on it? I don't know how to find out if its truly an LX or not, any ideas? Here is the VIN:
    1HGCA5538KA001731

Also, what is better, LX or SEI?

ah gotcha, i thought that you thought you were driving a cb. if that made sense.

i know in the CB7 world, the SE is a nicer model than the LX. and the "i" usually stands for injection or injected. and i think half of the 3rd gens were carb'd right?

I should have specified more. Right, mine is carbed, I also just heard that SEI's get higher insurance rates, is this true? Maybe they're trying to pull a fast one on me to get more money.

I believe the SEI is pretty much an SE and yeah i think I is for injection. The vin # is right though. If it says it's an SEI, then it sure as hell is an SEI but i dont know about the 3rd gens enough to tell you the differences.

edit: I just realized this is post #100 for me W00t!

Funny how post #100 doesn't count in OT. That was still 99 for you!

Anyway, is the SEi a US model? I think we only had SE (and they were ALL fuel injected). If your car is carbureted, it's an LX. All 3rd generation LX models were carb'd. If it's FI, then it could be an SE. SE's had power everything, and I believe even leather interior (maybe not all of them).

Wasn't there an LX-i in that era? I coulda sworn some of the hatches were FI'd.

LX-i is FI. LX is carb. I had an LX-i, and it was an 86 (the first year of the 3rd generation). Anything with an "i" is FI. LX and DX are carbureted. SE (even without the "i") I believe were all FI, simply because they were the top of the line.

Uh, if you're sure your car is carb'd , then it can't be an SEi, since like Deever said, the i stands for fuel injection. As for insurance, what trim level it is shouldn't make a difference for what they charge you, as unless its a built-up show car or something, it too old to warrent anything more than liability.

You can call honda dealerships and give them the vin and they can tell you whats up. Thats sounds weird. Def not 4th gen, SE-i would be third.
