ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    I Hate Vw's!!!

within the last week my girlfriends '01 jetta has broken down twice!!! Why do these cars have to suck so much! first problem was a bad alternator, second problem was the stupid brake light switch which couldn't sense the brake being pressed down so she couldn't get the car out of park. I could've replaced the switch for $20 except the car was stuck parked on a busy street and damned if i was gonna be f'ing around under the dash while cars are buzzing by at 40mph. Then there's that damned Melted Crayon smell that never goes away and makes me want to puke. We're going car shopping this weekend and finally getting rid of that money pit.

Whoa! Serious pressurization problem. Isn't that why the CB7 (like other Hondas) have the fresh vent buried behind the driver's quarter panel?

I've honestly never had a bad experience with them, because I've never owned them. But I have heard horror stories from friends/family. I've heard that the newer ones have all kinds of electrical problems, but I don't think it's just the newer ones. My cousin had a '94?(can't remember) Jetta and it completely shut down in the left lane of the highway...not good.

I work on vw's and audi's all the time at work and let me tell you....you won't see me or anyone in my family driving one of those endless money pits anytime soon. They constantly break, then cost way too much to have fixed, but then are too much of a bitch to fix yourself. And YES they do have that douche bag crayon smell! I hate it. Vw's in terms of reliability and practicality just suck dick.

I only dislike them because three of my many accidents were because they were the cause of the accidents.

alot of my buddies own vdubs and they do seem to have a lot of electrical problems...i remember hearing all of the electrical components were made in mexico instead of germany starting in the early 90's... but their motors do seem to run strong if they are maintained....nothing compared to a honda obviousely but none of them have run into any serious mechanical problems...knock on wood...anyways, ill stick with my honda peace out

I deal with dissatisfied VW owners over the phone for 8 hours a day for warranty work (2003 and newer VWs) and this is what I've taken away from it as far as reliability goes:

-chronic airbag light issues for all models
-rear cupholders frequently breaking for new Jettas and Passats
                          -Touareg rear seatbelt recall issues
-cd players not ejecting cds for all models (whichs requires a new one sent from Germany)
                          -rough idle on new Jettas
-seat release on New Beetles break regularly
-vehicles not getting mileage advertised, both gas and diesel
                          -leaking sunroof/rain channels on Jettas
-the fact that its $70 for an oil change at the dealer
-miscellaneous electrical problems for all models
                          -Passat auto tranny failure
                          -New Beetle convertible top issues

This is of course an incomplete list but its off the top of my head without any coffee yet this morning.

No complaints on the Eos yet... but I wouldn't own a new VW, no siree.

my brother has a 2000 GTi VR6. its an alright car, he hasn't had much trouble with it. i've driven it and while the interior refinements are nice in comparison to my old cb, he paid a boatload of money for that car (which in all fairness is none of my buisness) but with that said..

                            - shifter feels really wierd, don't like how it shifts at all
                            - for a small v6 fwd, it only gets 1mpg better advertised city fuel economy than a 91-92 galant vr4 (which is turbo awd)
                            - he seems to get recall after recall in the mail
                            - routine filters/parts/whatever are too expensive

My friend had to drive one while his car was in the shop...

And he said it best: "now I understand why they crash one of their cars per commercial"
