    Hello

Just picked up a 93 SE sedan 5mt. It's pretty darn clean with 150k on it. Factory radio with factory 6 disk changer in the trunk.
It should have a f22a4 and again is completely stock. First & foremost I'll be doing a seafoam treatment followed by a full tune up. Oil change, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, trans fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid. Check timing for 17* (+2*) valve adjustment & fuel filter. Clean tb and sensors. Anything else?

For my plans. The cars a daily driver in Komnifornioa. I plan to polish up the white paint and get it nice and clean again. Has very few blemishes & inside is cloth and is very clean.
Now for mods I'm thinking simple things to get me around 130whp or so. Just enough extra power to move along easier.

    K&n drop in
H23 throttle body & intake manifold with gutted Iabs & egr. Stacked Iabs plates/gaskets
2.5" collector into a 2.25" piping & resonator. Stock oem muffler.
    I have a 2.25" stock jeep cat and a 2.5" walker Evans...which should I run?

Bishi stage 1 cam on stock valve train, eventually a tune on 91, rev limiter set @ 6500rpm so it won't get beat to hard. Maybe a cam gear before it is tuned. I want the car to to look physically stock under the hood as it's not a race car just a simple clean daily driver for work.

I'd also like to get some speakers in the car. Clean up and polish all the lights. Add amber side markers and corner lens. Mild tint job and some oem honda wheels to replace the current steelies.
Maybe the ROH conversion with prelude 23t brakes. And a 1-1.5" drop.

So for starters the car has a few leaks. Radiators leaking as well. Low beams don't turn on, neither do the front corner lights. No speakers & the factory radio says error on it, won't turn on & anti theft light blinks.
Has a 4-2-1 a4 header on it already which is nice. I plan for a 2.5" collector & cat on the stock header. a6 cam & h23 intake/tb & a tune. I'll be happy if I make 125whp. Eibach pro kit will go on to lower it very mildy but give it alittle more sporty feel. Then go through and do sway bars & whatever lease it'll need.

Will be doing that tomorrow. A and I'm not sure, could e factory option? Rare? Idk.
Moon roof, power everything. Just picked up a full h23 intake & throttle body. Black box & all. Will be ordering a new radiator (autozone lifetime warranty). As well as all my gaskets, timing belt, water pump ect.
I'm going to port match the intake & open up the header ports & what not. My blocks stamped f22a1 yet the car has a a4 header & pownpipe which is nice. Will be installing a 2.5" collector & cat & hopefully 2.25" piping & resonator as the same time. Want it quiet still but want to pick up a few ponies.

What is the stock exhaust piping size on these cars? I could do 2.25" or 2 3/8 (2.5")..

Well I started cleaning the h23 intake & Oddly I saw a resemblance in my new h23 manifold & the cars current manifold. Mainly all the vaccum lines. I went & checked it out better & the current manifold has the secondary Iabs as well? Has the black box ect ect. However the h23 is much larger. So I'm guessing not only did my car have the a4/a6 header but also the a6 intake manifold? But my block is stamped f22a1? Is there anyway that the a6s came stamped a1 since the blocks identical? I mean its for sure all factory looking, doesn't even look like the intakes been off the car, bolts & studs look perfect no galling or tool marks.

Anyway I'll now be using the full H23 either way because I wanted more low end (longer runners) cruising power for carrying a car load of people, but will also give me a bit more top end because the bigger plenum & throttle body which is a 62mm version not the stock 60mm. I'll also be using the iab plate off the a6 manifold to give me a double stacked spacer for a bit more since its free I'll sell the a6 plenum and runners to anyone interested.

Now I'm curious here, where's the ecu located? I want to see what model my car has and what it should of had see if its been changed. I'm guessing its running the pt6 since its got a a6 manifold.
How can it check the cam once I have the valve cover off? Check as in see if its the a6 cam? Either way I'm super stocked to see these things.

          Btw my vin decoes as,
4dr. Sedan. Ex 5-spd. Msrp - $19,350.00 Invoice - $16,254.00 guessing it sold for $16250 off the lot?

          2.2L SOHC PGM-FI aluminum-alloy 16 valve 140-HP 4 cyl engine
5-speed manual transmission w/starter interlock system
          Front-wheel drive
          Full elect ignition system
          65-amp maintenance free battery
          80-amp alternator
Indep double wishbone front/rear suspension w/front stabilizer bar/ coil springs
          Rear stabilizer bar
          Front/rear hydraulic gas-charged shock absorbers
          * Michelin P195/60R15 87H MXV4 all-season SBR tires
          * 5.5JJ X 15" aluminum alloy wheels
          Pwr-asisted rack & pinion steering
          * Pwr-assisted 4-wheel disc brakes
17.0 gallon fuel tank w/remote fuel filler door release

Isk if that'll help anyone to figure it out. Will grab pics before I swap anything out tomorrow. It needs a damn good bath which it'll get while everything's being done. Need to order up a gasket kit & hondatat intake gasket. Motor mounts are on the short list as well.

There was never an SE in 1991 or 1993 that came from the factory with a manual transmission. They all had leather seating and door panels as well. If yours has an SE badge then it was put there by someone else.

It sounds like your engine was just replaced at some point with a junkyard engine. The car should have had an F22A6 from the factory. They likely just replaced the longblock and bolted the original intake and exhaust manifolds back to it. The header is probably an original F22A6 header, and not the F22A4 header. Since the longblock was likely replaced, there's a [retty good chance that the camshaft is no longer an F22A6 camshaft. The only way to tell is by pulling the valve cover and distributor and seeing if the camshaft is stamped "4B" on the distributor side.

The H23A1 runners are longer, but by a half inch. You're better just pulling the factory IAB plate and replacing it with the gutted plate, putting the IAB plate back on top of that and then bolting the H23A1 plenum down. Then you won't have to mess with your IAB black box or the manifold support bracket. However, if you're game, go ahead.

We're not going to be able to tell you anything else about this car unless you post some pictures up. It seems that there's something on it or that you've been told that's confusing you. But from the sound of it, you have a 1993 EX.

Here is my 93s engine bay.
4-2-1 header. Its cast a6 style. Would the tubular a4 upper header give me any gains? I have access for 1 for 5 bucks. I figure the a6 is cast & the a4 is tubular but otherwise the same?

Intake manifold which appears to be an a6. Has the Iabs and what not.

5speed trans. Manual. What's odd is when decoding the vin from the factory it sates it was a 5 speed "standard" trans. Could it be factory optioned? And yes its a 93 SE according to the factory vin as well. There's no way its a swap unless someone went all out. Radiator has no automatic tran cooler ports on it like auto accords have. Whole trans tunnel isn't modified everything looks 100% factory.

Iab valve hard to see manifold but its got Iabs for sure.

Trans tunnel. No extra holes drilled, all factory.. 5 dollar Home Depot short shifter I just threw in today. Whole interiors apart for a amber display conversion & cleaning. Everything is 100% cloth. Interior could of been swapped as the pillar panels are grey as well as the roof. Door panels, carpet & seats & dash is a blue color. No rips or tears anyway

Now the blocks stamped f22a1 which could just be a fluke. It could be a true a6 just stamped a1?
I know the a6 cam I got today is actually stamped "4B". I pulled it from a a6 personally and the other one I looked at was pitted so I left it but also said "4B"! But you said it should be stamped 4A? Any insight here?

My plan for the intake is h23 plenum, double stacked Iabs, 1 gutted of course & a6 runners. I figure that'll help with low end by double stacking the iab plates, but also give me some top end with the short a6 runners? I'll also be using a thermo intake manifold gasket to try and help lower intake temps some since I'm doing it all.
Any insight on a6 vs h23 runners with the double stacked Iabs?

You have an EX Accord. It also had the F22A6 engine.

And yes, you're right about the camshaft stamps. It should be 4B. The camshaft in the F22A1/4 is stamped 3A and I get them confused. I'm going to edit my previous post for the sake of anyone reading this in the future.

Don't overthink the intake manifold issue. You're lengthening the runners by putting a gutted IAB plate underneath the functioning one. You're not going to gain top end by keeping the .5"-shorter F22A6 runners. You've already begun to decrease it with the spacer. Determine whether you want the longest runner possible(H23A1 runners with double-stacked IAB plates) or something in between(F22A6 runners with double-stacked IAB plates).

IMO, the only thing worth a crap in that kit is the Aisin water pump. Others disagree and say GMB is ok. But that belt is definitely in question. Thing is with timing, if something fails, you may be looking for another engine.

I intend to delete the balancing shaft setup. Well just pull the belts off once my timing is set. I may call the mizumo auto shop place since they are within a hours drive and see if they can get me a "kit" together with my own pick & choose pieces.
I don't need the extra pulleys & belts for the balancing setup however the pulley belts would be nice to have. Need a full intake manifold gasket setup..valve cover, throttle body ect. Gonna see what they can do for me.

I feel like an idiot. I kept writing SE not ex hence why I thought you guys were saying the ex never came with a manual lol. All in all I said SE and I was getting confused.

Yes ex has the manual & a6 lol.

3 arts of honda mtf for the trans and an oem timing belt. Going to grab a full gasket kit from the mizumo auto place & order my h23 thermo intake gasket.

My goal is all stock parts build & a tune. Stock ex exhaust. I to a 2.5" collector & cat. I'll be happy with 125whp & 125ftlbs on 91oct. When it needs a rebuild, ill port & shave the head to gain a little compression & extra flow.
All said & done it would be nice to run around 125-130whp & get 35mph highway @ 70mph.
