ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

How low can you go driving "normally"?

What's up guys, I really want to drop my car to kill a hideous wheel gap on 15's, but I don't want to drive much different than if I wasn't lowered. Going over every speed bump and such at an angle every time is just too much for me as a daily driver. I have a coupe legend lip also, and I think I should have gotten a smaller lip if I worry about scraping. How low should I go? I was thinking 1.5 is really safe but it wouldn't kill the wheel gap enough, so is 2 safe? Please share your experiences! Thanks!

It really depends on the roads your going to be driving on, and the area. Here is Houston, TX the roads are pretty shitting, and I scrape on certain entrances to parking lots/shops and I am stock height, then there's some speed bumps that are like two 2x4's stacked ontop of each other.

Oh let's not forget about random stuff and dead animals in the road that if you were lowered your legend lip would be toast. Hell I saw a brick in the middle of the road the other day.

2 inches lowered should be safe ...just not two inches lowered from the ground that's when you overdoing it. When I worked on previous cars with cracked casings on the transmission that's when it gets tricky even when avoiding potholes and risers.

It also depends on what suspension you get, stiffness and such. With my type 2's, when I first put them on I had the stock 15's and I had it dropped to just above the tires. I could drive pretty normally.

I wish I could trade my heart for an extra liver, just so I can drink more and care less.

          ^^Your drop is sick

This guy liked his "cheapo" springs and said it felt like stock and the drop is nice just make sure to pair them with proper shocks so you don't kill anyone. (or yourself) The dude may say their "Cheapo" but AmznAzn Said he had em for a year no problems. DISCLAMIER >>>ONCE AGAIN pair them to proper shocks (no matter what you decide to go with)

A 2" drop will still be perfectly usable on most streets. There are factory cars that sit lower. You won't be slammed to the ground like bassrock234.

Look up pictures of people on Neuspeed Race of H&R Race springs to see a drop of roughly 2".

As for "cheapo" stuff... don't take that risk. Others have, and may have gotten lucky... but do it right. It's not THAT much more money to do things the right way, and the potential consequences of doing it the wrong way will be much MUCH more expensive.
