ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Wrecked the CB

So long story short the cops caused me to rear end this lady because they cut off 4 lanes of flowing traffic without using their sirens until the last second when they darted across traffic making more than myself slam on the brakes. The lady wasn't even mad at me for rear ending her, she was pissed off at how carelessly the cops cut everyone off with little to no warning. She had no damage to her car so she just shrugged it off said it was her fault and she was sorry I said sorry etc and we were on our way. Well in the heat of it all my car looked fine until I got home... I looked a bit harder for damage and there was no dent or scratches on my bumper, but the support bracket had been hit just so that it pushed in the frame behind it. So now the passenger side headlight and grille sit about a half inch under the hood and my bumper sits about and inch into my wheel well. Not really sure if I will keep the CB now depending on how difficult this fix would be and how expensive, some things are just not worth fixing. Any info on the difficulty of straightening the front end out?

Could be as easy as a new core support. It's hard to say since you haven't posted any photos of the damage.

      Easy repairs. That's hardly wrecked.

There really isn't much to show, but I will post a photo today. I posted that last night couldn't get good pictures.

If minor damage is too much to handle, you should consider building yourself a garage queen
Otherwise, get out there and fix that damn thing! Or if your bodywork skills aren't up to the task, have a pro do it.

Not too much to handle by any means, I have a shop with a lift and all the tools I could need, my stepfather does bodywork. Now that I looked into it a bit more it seems easy enough as far as drilling out welds etc. Is there any particular site I should order the core support from? Looking at one on *********.com and it's about $65 is this a good buy Deever?

********* and rockauto seem to be the go-to places lately. Good prices, decent quality.

Another option is to get one from a junkyard, if you can find a straight one.

It's not bad, but it's enough for me to notice and it freakin bugs the crap out of me.

Man, I got submissions for the calendar with pictures of cars with a hell of a lot more damage than that!

LOL like I said I have OCD when it comes to stuff like this. This is my second CB and want it to be perfect when it's all done. I've decided since my bumper sat off to the driver side a quarter of an inch or so before this fender bender, it gives me a good reason to replace the core support. This way everything lines up nice and perfect again. Needed a new bumper and hood before this happened anyways.

No one ever seems to mention this but if I were doing front end repair work I would double check my front end dimensions against a known-unwrecked CB or two, ensure I have those dimensions on my car and weld a bar to the strut towers. If you have an ESP strut bar then that's more than adequate. You'd just need a bar tacked in place, though.

That makes me think about something. Those of us who have unwrecked(EVER) CBs should create a dimensional database of several point-to-point measurements. As time goes on more and more will happen to these cars and more metal will degrade. This could be invaluable to the random guy 10 years from now that does a full body restoration of one of these things.
