ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    New to the forum

    Hi everyone just wanted to introduce myself. I'm new to the forum but i've had a few hondas in the past and am in the process of selling my 1979 Trans Am to buy a CB7.

    I've been lusting after a CB7 ever since meeting NWAccord, and watching his car come together in person as I lived right across the street for years.

    The last Honda I had was a 1990 Civic DX hatch with a SOHC ZC and i loved it, before that i had a 1992 Civic LX D15B7, it was kind of an ugly slug lol.

    I have some plans once i get ahold of a nice CB7, ideally a 90-91 brown 4DR

    I plan to purchase the fallowing parts for the car immediately and start assembling my dream car

    Performance & Tune Up

    - black Ram Air Intake pipe $ 34.73
    - 3" K&N air filter $ 25.55
    - NGK spark plugs (oem) $ 9.98

    - NGK spark plug wires $ 32.14
    - Royal Purple 10w30 5qt jug $ 45.35
    - K&N oil filter $ 12.50
    - F22a1 valve cover gasket $ 13.25
    - VHT engine enamel (gold) $ 17.96
    _________
    $ 256.46
    Suspension

    - OEM replacement shocks (front&rear) $ 109.95
    - DSG yellow 2" lowering springs $ 59.00
    _________
    $ 168.95
    Exterior

    - XXR 002's 15x7 +15 w/195x50x15 Achilles $ 750.00
    - Mugen rep. lip w/ 4door window visors (poly) $ 72.75
    - Extended lug nuts (16pc) (gold) $ 24.30
    - Universal plate relocator $ 13.28
    - Rear fog light, single, red $ 66.49
    _________
    $ 926.82
    Interior

    - white Type R Honda badge shift knob $ 24.60
    - Sickspeed 3.75" shifter extender (black) $ 14.95
    - eBay 350mm deep dish racing wheel $ 29.99
    - BOSS style steering hub adapter kit $ 9.99
    - gold 6 bolt quick release $ 54.99
    _________
    $ 134.52

    grand total $ 1486.75

    I'll be getting $3000 for my TransAm and i figure a nice CB7 in the Portland area would run me about $1500 and with the total above i'll have enough to fill the tank after we're all said and done

    In June i'll be starting college again and im gonna use the cash i get outta that to fund a DOHC F22B engine swap. If i get a call back about a job i'll also be doing an H22 transmission, but im unsure of what one will work best in the chassis and what i have to do to mate it to the DOHC F22B.

    Hope to have a CB7 soon, until then im just gonna be gathering knowledge!

        I would search around the junkyard or craigslist for some parts. You might be able to find some parts for a good price

            Welcome! That's perfect how you have everything all mapped out. That's a great idea for all to do because as old as our cb7s are, we never know whats wrong unless we have a mechanic look at the vehicle before buying anything. Good luck on your project! You're gonna love it!

              Trans Am for a Honda?!

              I'd have a buyer for that Trans Am if you lived near me. I'm working on an '80 Camaro Z28 and a '72 Camaro Z28 with a 454 swapped in with my roommate.

              Either way, you'll have fun with the Accord, but Trans Ams are bad ass too.

                Thanks for the welcomes

                @ accord1320 Yeah i figured the best thing i could do is just get a nice solid tune up, and then freshen up the suspension because who knows if its been 10 years or 6 months since they put shocks on it lol after the basics i just decided to get the little stuff i like on CB's

                @ crazymikey Yeah the T/A's been rippin up s**t for a year now and i just miss a Honda, plus man every time someone asks me "why you sellin it, whats wrong with the Trans Am?" I say "well its missin 5 things, a clutch pedal and 4 gears..." I just gotta grab gears man, its like a way of life
                Plus every since i've known NWAccord (a fellow member) I've lusted after a CB7, I lived across the street for years and I saw his 4dr when i was younger and then watched his green coupe come together, hell i was there when he put in the H22! His other Accord is my insperation, i've mapped out what i'll be doing down the road with a small loan while i attend college

                  You're going to spend all of this money, but put boost on stock internals...

                    yezzir i am zir lol
                    I've seen it done and i dont have the money to have custom rods and pistons made for the F22B, my power goal is only 210whp so im not asking for the moon it should hold up especially since it wont be a track car pretty much a street car. if i ever want more power, i'll rebuild the F22Ax that gets pulled out

                      My point is that you're spending all this money to boost an engine that is known for weak piston ring lands, sounds like bad plan IMO. You do know that Bisimoto frequently sells his piston and rod combos for around $735, or less? It's just my .02, but if you're going thru this much work, do it right.

                        well not exactly, its just kind of the result. see im sure the CB will have 220K miles or more, so the engines tired already, i dont want any down time while i would rebuild the F22Ax so instead of a rebuild i'll swap in a DOHC F22B since the likely hood of finding a low mileage F22Ax is pretty low. So really its about my only option since i dont want down time and i refuse to own a VTEC engine

                        I wasnt aware of the price of Bisi's rods and pistons thats not a terrible price so i may go that route if i want to get more power,
                        i know early on NWAccord was getting 300whp outta 13.5psi on a stock block till he went nuts and made it a 600+ monster lol but if he can get away with 300 @ 13.5psi then i should get away with a measly 210 @ probably 10psi lol

                          You wouldn't have down time if you did the upgrade before installing the F22B. We are gonna help you along the way, regardless of your choice. Just something to keep in mind, just because one person did this or that doesn't mean you are going to be able to. There are many variables, age/condition of engine, quality of tune, driver habits. All that said, good luck in your endeavors.

                          I just drove thru Pendleton on Monday, took a trip to Seattle and Portland.

                            I wont have enough cash to do the forged internals before the swap, i'll get a $2000 loan the first time and thats for the swap, so the only way i could do that is if i gathered up the parts before the motor, rebuilt it, then it wouldnt be in until term 2 i could swap it in, and then i wouldnt have enough money for boost, so i wouldnt be starting to boost it till 3rd term and then its fall and i cant enjoy the boost so i'd wait till spring.......... Damn...

                            i could also just roll the NA F22B until the winter and just decomission it for some down time to do the forged internals then come back in the spring and boost it.. that gives me the F22B sooner ( i fear the F22Ax will die on me due to mileage) but still gives me down time.

                            guess down time is just an innevitable occourance lol

                            and I feel bad for u that u had to drive thru here lol its a dump man, the cops are rude, the people are just as bad. this city is just awful I cant wait to move back to Richland,WA.

                              What makes you think the F will die? 200K is nothing, there was recently a million mile CB7.

                              I didn't notice, i was going 80. Still a fun ass drive.
