ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

What to look for when buying a CB7

Hello all I am new here and have been looking for a CB7 for a little while now and waiting for something to pop up locally. well finally I could have found what I've been looking for I just need some insight on what to look for when I call and ask about the car aswell as go take a look at it.
Are there common problems or things to look out for on these cars that could be a major issue? something that could make or break the sale? Currently I'm looking at a 92 on craigslist the ad says it runs and drives. But that it needs a hood, grill, windshield, and by the looks of it maybe a bumper. I would post the link to the car but I am not sure if thats allowed here?

Always take a compression and coolant pressure tester with you period on any used car. Look for the check engine light, wore ball joint's and bushing's, check all fluids.

    Basic's for all car's really.

Posting the link is permitted; the pictures will help us assess it. What year, model, mileage, transmission? If it needs a hood, grille, and windshield, there may be damage to the things behind the grille like the radiator support, condenser, radiator, etc. If hit hard enough, the structure could be affected. If the bumper has been hit, it would likely need the beam and brackets behind it. All this can be replaced, but just drives up the cost of the car, particularly if you pay someone else to do it. What part of the country? Inspect the rear wheels wells for rust or evidence that they have been repaired for rust (pull the sides of the trunk liner back and look inside the quarters also); a poor repair here will show up again in a hurry. Ask about when the timing belt and water pump were last changed, when other major service was done (brakes, struts, ball joints, tie rods, axles, etc.) and whether it was done with OEM or aftermarket parts, what major service is needed. If you can, look underneath at the condition of the exhaust system, for evidence of fluid leaks, damage, etc. Check the trunk for evidence of water leaks. Pull a front and rear wheel to check the brakes, condition of springs (front ones on mine are notorious for breaking at the botom coil), condition of ball joint and tie rod boots will give an indication of their age, check the sway bar links.

Thank you for all the info and I will be sure to look at everything mentioned including the rust on the quarters. I know a buddy of mine had a CB7 that had started to rust a bit there. the link is here There is only one picture and not much of a discription but the price is pretty far down there. I think the biggest issue would be rust if I'm not mistaken? Those headlights will have to go if I do end up picking this car up; thats for sure.

Link is dead, some one beat you to it?

No great loss, sounded like it was in bad shape. If the person doesn't take alot of pictures and doesn't describe it much there's probably something they don't want you to know about it.

I don't think someone beat me to it though I'll be calling the seller tomorrow.

The link now shows that it was deleted by its author. Like AgentHydra said, sounds like it had been run hard and put away wrecked. If you can, take your time, try to find a good one, even if you have to go several states away. I'm in southern Ohio - I bought one in KY, Philly, and Pensacola, FL.

Hmm weird that it wouldn't show up as deleted for me until this morning. In either case I'll continue my search
