Bodykits on cb7 whats your take?

I have a wagon, and I love the look of the aftermarket rear bumper. I decently like the black widow sides....but have yet to find a front bumper I like. The more I look at the r33, the more I like it. Iam a bit older than most, and was just driving age when the whole "kit" thing exploded on the scene. I've had more than my fair share of kitted cars, and after having a cat explode a front bumper, and losing side skirts to driveway exits....iam kind of gun shy of the glass now.

Iam about due for a paint job, so iam trying to figure out which way I want to go with the wagon. My wheels are also almost a year old, so it's time for something diffrent. If I keep it on 20's, I'll probably kit it, if I don't, and lower it...no kit

There was a few bodykits for cb7 THAT looked really great, others just didnt fit it correctly. The Bomex one was probably the best one out there. Couldnt find any other pics of that car (years back) besides the one on the internet now. Im running XEXON mild kit and its a lip kit, XEXON also made a full bumper for both 90-91 92-93 cars

Yeah, Doughboy's car is one that doesn't need to be fast. He comes in first when the car is in park!


That's the key to a proper kit... proper fitment, properly painted... Too many people have unpainted or poorly painted kits that don't fit well. If the paint or the fitment draws attention to the fact that the part "doesn't belong", then it looks terrible. The point is to make the parts look like they belong on the car. Choose parts that flow well together, install them with care (or have a pro do it), and paint them properly.
Kits done right are respectable. Anyone who cracks on a well-done bodykit is just a snob... probably a snob that thinks his halfassed wannabe trendy ride is superior.

IMO, Body kits are the equal to Fat Rolls...And NO I dont like them...

Exactly. That, or they don't understand the cost before starting the project. A $300 cheapie body kit is going to cost $150 to ship. When it arrives, it must be installed by someone with significant experience (which usually means a professional). This is even more important with the cheapies, because they often require some modification to fit properly. Otherwise, you'll have issues like major panel gaps, wavy bumpers, and bumpers that flap around in the wind. Body work is not cheap... and it's even more expensive when it's "custom". Then it has to be prepped and painted. Again, cheap ones especially... if you just slap a Maaco paintjob on a cheap kit that wasn't carefully prepped, that paint will be flaking off in 2 months.
In the end, to install a $300 kit PROPERLY, you're looking at $1500... at least. And most kits won't be $300.


Do I want a kit on my car? No. Do I appreciate well done kitted cars? Absolutely. Doughboy's show car is a great example of a body kit (and other aesthetic modifications) that flow well together. Wherm's car is among my favorites on this forum (largely because of the absolute attention to every little detail.) oneoffaccord's old purple car looked amazing as well... and he drove that thing like it was meant to be driven!
I do, however, have a Wings West bigmouth bumper in my basement... ready to go on if I ever decide to go turbo (it's got a nice big mouth for an intercooler )

i'm sorry but this car is gross, i know you put in time and money into this but IMO it was just a waste. i'm sure its mainly for shows and points and what not but not my cup of tea. sorry if i offended you but its just my opinion (which i express a lot)
