ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Milage barrel cluster swap guide cant find it.

Either im a search noob, or i can blame my English to American barrier, but im looking for a very good thread related to the removal of the dash cluster AND removal or the mileage counter.

Looking to swap clusters, but keep correct mileage.

Can someone find that? Rep point for a reward!

      yep tried that nothing.

It had a picture based step by step, how to remove the barrel from the cluster.

Seems silly to power through and work it out and maybe break stuff, when someones put the effort into DIYing it on here

I believe it was lost when the forum went down. If you open your cluster up it's pretty self-explanatory though. Just keep your gauge screws organized and coordinated.

Also be VERY careful when popping the needles off. I broke 4 needle pins when trying to swap some gauge guts the other day and wrecked 2 clusters. FML

You don't ever need to remove the needles.

I needed to remove the needles to replace the fuel & temp gauge components located beneath the faceplate.

Just replace the whole thing with both motors and the faceplate. , not the motors by themselves. Thats exactly how you break the stuff. Unless you're swapping needles there is no reason to remove them.

I second this. For what Marcus is doing he can just remove each gauge as an assembly once it's unscrewed from the board. Marcus, if you still dot have this don't in a couple of days I'll take my cluster out and redo the write-up. My car is 2 hours away right now though. We probably need that information back on the site for the sake of people screwing up their gauges by disorganizing the screws.

Completely makes sense now. I don't know why I tried to swap the parts individually.

FML. 2 effed up clusters and out $30 over that ordeal.

I'm currently driving with no fuel or temp needles.

                        Cheers guys,

Jarrett, i have now got the cluster out, and have managed to degut it, found out that all i need to do is swap out the fuel temp bit so i can leave the mileage bit in there.

Ive found the issue, as expected one of those hair sized wires are split. Surprisingly managed to unravel it and have enough length to spiral it around the mount point. So i will "attempt" to solder it. I suspect my hands will shake too much but its already broken so might as well try.

Becuase i didnt know what i was doing no point me taking DIY pics, but if you want to redo it, that defo be great!

I do have some random pics of it, took a phone pic with a magnifier glass! seemed to work haha will get those up shortly

Glad you got it sorted out.

I was able to get a new cluster today, but it's for an automatic, so I need to swap the face plate by removing the needles again.

Didn't you get schooled on NOT removing the needles earlier? Just swap the entire gauge.

yeah, but the faceplate is from an auto, and I have a stick. So I don't want a fuel/temp faceplate with PRND12 on it.
