So how's everyone's Monday so far?

Mine started off pretty exciting with a lady crashing through the front fence. After had just gotten up to go pee and i going back to my room i hear a big old boom. Thinking that the cats were up to something i go up to check but that's where i run into my younger brother who said someone drove our lawn. I peek out and sure enough there was a car that ran tore down our wrought iron fence, i mean she did a number on it as several sections were up and out of the grass while another section was bent in half.

There was an older lady driving... maybe in her early 50s and late 50s, she was in a daze but i assumed it from the impact of the car and the fence after going over a curb. There was a younger kid in the front passenger side where the door was pushed in and he said that his right arm hurt. Now i tried to convince the lady to call 911 after trying to call the township police and they were closed still. Now there was another person there before me a, man in a pick up truck, that drove away shortly after checking up on her. I didn't get his name or plate number as i really wished i did since he was a witness who claimed to be right behind her when the accident happened.

Anyhow the lady was on the phone calling her brother, that lived just 5 minutes away, and he arrives like PDQ. He had another lady with him and she moves the kid and the first lady over to their car because it was really cold and windy out to keep them warm until the police actually show up.

It's really weird though because no matter how hard i look, i can't tell which direction she was traveling in or what made her decided to take a turn right where she did. I mean my driveway was 10 more feet to the left and there are two sides street within close proximity to where she landed. There are no tire markings on the road as if she skidded and the road was dry. Anyhow i asked the other second lady if the "driver" was taking any medication and she said yes even though it was none of my business. This was when the police arrive because the lady's brother gave up and called 911; not one but three police cruisers pull up. I mean i haven't seen that many cop cars at my address since the early 90's when my father's mistress broke into our house with a butcher knife, they must have thought there was a murder that happened here or something to send that many this time.

Anyhow i get a few simple questions like do i live here, who was actually driving and my contact information. I told them like i saw it; the lady in the glasses was driving, the kid was in the passenger seat. The only reason the man and other lady was there was because the we could not get a hold of the township police at their non-emergency number. The reason why the lady(driver) and the kid were in another car was because they were cold. So after a few more minutes of questioning and about 20 minutes of waiting a tow truck finally arrives to move the car. I made a video of them doing it but i won't show it since it has the car's license plate number still showing, privacy and all that jazz.

The funny thing is that down the street there was another vehicle getting towed because it was in a no parking zone during busy hours. It was weird how they chose to tow that car first though but i guess it is more important to remove a road obstruction then a car in someone's yard.

If you guys know me by now i like taking pictures of things with my cell phone but for some odd reason it didn't save the good ones.

This was the only one that actually saved but it was after the tow truck moved it sideways to get it unstuck from the fence...

To me the damage was not that bad. You can see the door damage on the passenger side, it'll need a new bumper, driver side headlight and both front quarter panels. There was no air bag deployment but the tow guy said that it did break a control arm on the driver side by impacting the curb because the driver side wheel was all cockeyed and stuff while the passenger side wheel was straight like in the picture. Now i did overheard the brother talking to the other woman that she had just gotten this car back from the repair shop not too long ago but i don't know how long ago that was.

After sitting here and typing this up, i just remembered something. Shortly before the "crash" sound, i did hear the garbage truck making it's usually loud sounds and the sound of garbage cans scraping across the road. So maybe she was in the right lane coming up on the garbage truck and she tried to drive around it when she came onto oncoming traffic in which caused her to go into my fence to avoid a head on collision? Now if that were the case, how come the garbage truck guy left the scene of the accident and why didn't the "guy in the pick up truck" stay? I didn't tell the police any of this because either by the way...

So now we have no fence in the front right of the yard or garbage cans because she obliterated them under her car. They were kind enough to leave their information with me though so that i guess i can contact their insurance to get things fixed. Question though, how the hell do i get shards of glass cleaned up if its in grass? i'll need to mow the lawn later this week and weed eating in that area and i don't get to get shredded by the glass. I don't own a shop vac nor do i want to use my regular floor sweeper on the lawn.

Wow what a way to start the day!

If your mower has a bag I would just mow over the glass I'm sure that will pick up most of it.

I wouldn't mow over broken glass...

a nice size chunk could still do damage.

I would try to get as much up as i could by hand...

might be a good time to invest in a shop vac....i will be shortly since i just moved into my house.

As long as there are no large pieces, the rest should be fine.

                  That's crazy!

Might have to go out there on your hands and kneed picking glass. Or just kill all the grass with some chemicals and sweep it up.

Well i called her insurance but she appearently hasn't reported it yet because the person i talked to was as baffled as i was on how it happened. Anyhow they'll contact their client get some info and then call me back. The nice thing is it's a local insurance office and the agent lives in the same neighborhood as i do so they have seen the accident and is very familiar with my street.

                        *update2*

Well the driver of the Dodge called me a few minutes ago to apologize and swears that her insurance will take care of everything. Her son is okay, just a sprained arm and she is okay. I didn't ask her what she thought was the reason she had the accident and she just voluntarily said that she thinks she fell asleep at the wheel. Stuff happens and we're not mad or anything plus we're glad no one was seriously hurt.

                          *update3*

I hate dealing with insurance companies. It seems like they love taking your money and then beating around the bush when they need to pay it back.

It's now Friday and the claims representative i was told to talk to will not be back in till next Wednesday the 11th which means I have to look at that mangled fence through Easter weekend. Easter is on Sunday this week right?

I've thinking about the need to inform our home owners insurance just in case the other party likes to become dodgy about the subject.

                          What do you guys think?
