i learned to work on cars back in the late 80s and early 90s from my dad. I'd always be out there to help him drop a transmission, replace an engine.. brakes.. If he wasn't sure on how to do it, we hit up the public library for a repair manual. Just like now when i am unsure of something i look it up in a book the old fashion way.
Having the internet now is great for research but i can't take it out to the garage or driveway where the car is, well i can but i don't want to dirty my laptop.
My younger brother is 18 and he doesn't know jack about his car. I try my best to answer his questions when he has any or if he needs help with it but the most important thing is i hope he is paying attention when i explain because i don't want to explain it a third time.
