Hey everyone. I was just curious what rpm you guys launch at. I mean at the drag strip or any type of race. Im rockin a pretty stock f22a1 with I/H/E so im not making but 100 whp if im lucky lol. Also, i have a factory clutch and all other drive line components. The reason im asking is because i would like to get good launches without breaking something and spinning too much. Thanks!

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I launch at about 12,000 RPMs. I generally try to feather the throttle to avoid catastrophes. I need a lot more practice.
EDIT: This is generally done on a 600cc sports bike, if anyone was like or .Last edited by Straight Success; 01-09-2012, 07:30 PM.The Lord watches over me!

What RPM you can launch at will vary depending on a number of factors:
1. how quick your clutch grabs
2. how sticky your tires are (this involves material, tread, temperature, and cleanliness.)
3. the type and condition of the road surface
4. how you handle the clutch (feathering or dropping)
5. how much power your engine is actually putting down, and where in the RPM range it makes peak power.
6. your suspension. If your suspension can't hold the tires on the ground, they will bounce, causing a loss of traction.
The only real way to determine the best launch RPM is through trial and error... at a track. Don't launch on public roads. You might get in trouble with cops, or worse, you might lose control and hurt someone.
Also, a healthy F22A1 with I/H/E should be putting down 120-125whp, maybe more. Unhealthy... yeah, who knows.

I noticed a huge improvement in the way my car launches now with the ITRs and snow tires. They're so much lighter than my steelies, plus slightly undersized, so my acceleration is quite quick off the line.
Usually, I'm launching in a 1500-2000 feathered take off, without riding the clutch too much. I like a nice quick snappy getaway.

Launch control is set at 5k....much less stress on the drivetrain than launching lower and I have just enough wheel and clutch slip to take off fast, even with an open diff!My Member's Ride Thread
