ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Kind of like rolling the dice on that one... Is he close enogh for you to go look at it? Saying that it smoked a bit, and they pulled it due to bad piston. That could mean that the block needs to be sleeved or possibly that the head/combustion chamber ate a valve or parts of a piston. On the other hand if the head is in good shape it's worth that. Offer him $175-$200. That way If the block is toast you still have a Good head, 90.7mm crank (55mm mains), and a set of 143mm rods to work with. The F22 block can be machined to accept a 55mm main crank.

I would say yes if you have someone that you are 100% confident in rebuilding it. Honda has a great design with their motors. But you must understand, it is only as good as the person you have building it. And if it gets into several hundred dollars for labor and everything, you can almost find a low mileage motor for the same price. These are questions you need to think about and ask yourself. Do i completely trust the person building it? If not, then don't do it. And if so, is there any savings at all when you figure in everything? Do some research and you may find a low mileage motor for the same money.

"ticking" isn't exactly a technical term. The bad piston makes me wonder, though. Pistons don't just go "bad". It could be due to a cracked piston, broken ringland, or an issue with the ring seal (possibly due to scoring of the cylinder wall.) The first two problems could be a result of the use of a turbo, and the last could be the result of improper lubrication. Their "bad piston" could be their assumption based on a compression test, which could also indicate a valve issue... which could be the result of incorrect timing, piston-to-valve contact, or a burned valve.

If you can get it for $200, it may be worth it. The head alone could be worth $200.
Of course, it depends on what your plans are. Be prepared to FULLY rebuild the engine. If it's not severely damaged, you could correct whatever is wrong with some good machine work on the head, a fully sleeved block, and forged internals... then you'd have a beast on your hands.

200 is fair. And since you are a KCSR member like me you need to find Flipcyde (something like that) And tell him you know me and have him take a look at that engine. I need you meet up with some of my guys and they can help you too
