So I went camping this week and had the bright idea of taking my car up the mountains....little did I know. We went to our usual camping spot, but to our dismay, there were people already there. So we keep going up the road trying to find a suitable spot, passing many spots because everyone and their cousin are camping this week. We pass Troutdale campground, and we notice there is no drinking water, so we continue. Just around the corner we decide to just set up camp, so I find a spot to flip a bitch. I spot my turn around spot, I turn and then throw it in reverse. As soon ads I do I hear a horrible scraping and my car raises up slightly. I cringe and hope all is good, I briefly smell hot oil, but quickly dismiss it. I pull into camp and park and begin to unpack. After a few loads I happen to look down at my drivers sides tire, and I see a black spot! I quickly run to my trunk and grab my jack. I jack it up and this is what I see...
I start freaking out cause I'm a) up in the mountains and b) I'm broke. Luckily we came with my mother in law who bailed me out. After going back into town and getting another pan, gasket, and some oil I was able to replace the busted pan. After getting it off this is what I saw...
I get it back on, with some major headaches, I remove the upper header tubes, and loosen the DP from the uppers and the block, as well as loosening the bar the connects to the front lower crossmember, sorry dont know the name of it. I had to do this because of countless encounters with a dip or three. Anyways, after 4 days we are ready to leave, and I get the idea to go track down the bastard that caused me this headache, and I found him...
Needless to say, my baby is NEVER going to the mountains again, EVER!
