ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

First time I have ever powder coated. What do you all think?

Hey everyone Just posting to see what everyone thinks. I just bought a powder coat machine and used it for the first time yesterday and coated my sandblasted valve cover. Let me know what you guys think. Remember its my first time ever powder coating anything. I might start coating alot of underhood parts if the valve cover hold up to my driving for a week or so.

Looks great! I've seen a fairly inexpensive powder coating system at my local Harbor Freight Tools store and have thought of buying it to play around with. What kind of setup did you use?

I bought the kit From harbor freight for 79 bucks. I also bought the powder from them aswell but will be getting it else where due to quaity and price. Useing it is very easy just make sure to do all the prep work on the metal your coating. It took me no more then about 45 min to do the valve cover not including the sandblasting but i did preheat the valve cover to outgas it and to help with filling the valleys.

My only complaint is I wish they had a clear powder coat in stock because I noticed that this powder coat paint they have is very soft. So im pretty sure this is a base coat that needs a top coat. But like i said this is only my first try my next try will be with quailty powder from a good company Caswell inc. If i get good at this with my own parts I might start doing it for fellow CB7 tunners Aslong as its ok with Deevs. I have to look thru the rules on becoming a seller or something.

I used my house oven But I highly recomend not doing this as the smoke and fumes are not for the faint of heart and your pizza will never taste the same. What im doing is buying a used one off like craigslist or at a yard sale and wireing up my garage with a the needed electrical socket. Pros to this is you can also cook some late night snacks while working on your car

A buddy of mine built his own powder coating oven out of cement board and toaster guts. Worked well. I've been wanting to do it myself. He just left it in his girlfriend's back yard, covered in a tarp.
