ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Intake difference

Are name brand/expensive intakes any different from no brand/non expensive intakes?

I hear from people they all do the same.

not enuf to offset the price. just get a ebay band intake, and a top shelf filter.

The better brands may give 1-2hp more in a certain RPM range, and the majority of them are CARB exempt (which means they are street-legal in California). That's where the price comes from. The cheap ones are just generic tubes, paired with crap filters.

As sulimed said, get a cheap pipe with a quality filter (AEM, K&N, and Apexi are the ones I would trust) and you're good to go.

        Yeah what ^ said.

Pretty much if you are in California or any other smog nazi state that requires carb legal products, you will need to get a AEM, Weapon-R or CP intake to give you the added safety from Highway patrol and Smog checks.

I highly don't recommend this but if you are a broke highschool student this is what you can do and it worked for me and friends.

If you want a ghetto cheap 50-state legal intake... you can always do the K&N sticker carb sticker mod LOL.... The entry level K&N intakes for various cars really does look like a cheap e-bay filter with their sticker logo and the K&N filter. You could buy the filter at your local shop (make sure it has the sticker) and have at it. Just make sure u don't buy a cheap intake with the bright RED or BLUE couplers. They only use black. If you want u can get similar black couplers at Home Depot.

        Tip #2

If you are really broke and can't afford a K&N filter you can always mimic the HKS carb logo. Their logo is just Black and White and can be made in paintshop honestly.

This is what a couple of me and my friends did back in 2000 with the AEM mod. Just be aware of younger smog techs... just take your car to a mom & pop smog station and you are all good! Don't worry all they wanna see is the sticker and they are lazy and won't check the code up like a BAR station would.
I miss my 50 state legal Tenzo-R intake LOL

Again do it at your own risk...I won't take responsibility for anyones actions!

California is the only state that cares about that stuff. For now, anyway. CA laws are often adopted by other states. They are often the frontrunner in lawmaking.
