ok so i just bought my second cb.....was driving it home...when this cop pulls behind me and ran my plate. after a few SECONDS...lights came on, damn. got a ticket for no registration, no inspection, and no insurance. what to do guys? i told the officer that i just bought the car and he said i have no proof...shit..i'm f***ed

How much will this cost me. the car has insurance but the seller has the card, and it did not pull up on the computer...what can i do about the reg. and insp.??

Did you not get a bill of sale? Also the insurance usually doesn't cover the car per say, but the owner of the car, so once the title was transferred the insurance coverage was probably gone. My friend just bought a car and his insurance will cover any car he purchases temporarily so that it can be registered even though the car is not technically on his policy.
I know this because he just registered the car today and the dmv and his insurance company both told him he was temporarily covered. So before court call your insurance company and see what they say.

yes i got a bill of sale now but not when it happend....the seller is my brother...and the insurance expires in 2 months

Well, I mean, bill of sale pretty much is a receipt, but if you take it to court you can prove to the judge that you had just bought the car since you can show him/her the bill of sale. I would suggest looking at local laws on grace periods and procedures when buying cars. I know when you buy a car from the lot here that the dealer plates cover insurance and registration for like 20 days.

Take it to court, and hope you get a sympathetic judge. It doesn't really matter when you bought the car... 5 days ago or 5 minutes ago. If you're operating the vehicle without the proper paperwork in order, then you're violating the law. Just sucks you got caught when you did!

Yeah, it's the same in NJ. I bought my 92 Volvo 940 from a lot, and the dealer wouldn't let me drive it off the lot until my insurance company covered it. A dealer can give temporary registration, though a private seller can't.

All you can do now is sit back, and wait for the citations to
spank that ass. There isn't really much you can do. And plus
you'll have more charges when you try to fight the reasoning

I know my sister got pulled over when she got the car, but LAPD let her go.

I would say ask your bro to give you atleast the card fro insurance. here I paid $500 for each ticket for no insurance. also when ever you buy a car that you know you wont register right away is best to have someone drive with you so they can cover the plates with there car. thats what I do when I buy CB'S

Yo you fucked son. You drove his shit and his insurance doesnt expire within 2 months an dyour where behind the drivers seat with no plates, no tags,no insurance registration. All accountability falls on you not him.

well that really sucks but i got to talk to the local police and they assured me i can fix all tickets and have a 50% chance that the court will dismiss all fo them, its up to them really. i'm now 100% sure the insurance will be dismiss. i can fix both the inspection and reg. even though i'll still will have to pay court fees....hope everything goes well. One thing, i'm not sure if this will go on my record when i fix it????, i don't care about money but i dont want it to go on my record...
